The Pharisees wanted to entangle Jesus Christ with matters of the law regarding taxes, but Jesus was smarter than they could ever think. He told them to pay their taxes and also give God His due. A lot of people these days misinterpret this scripture, especially those who are not born again. One musician was asked why he mixed gospel songs with his secular music and he quoted the scripture above; however this is a misuse or misinterpretation of the scripture.
