It is one thing to study the scriptures and another to have fellowship or experience the scriptures. In other words, it is one thing to read about the Lord Jesus Christ and another thing to have fellowship or experience him. Apostle John believed the love of God because he had experienced this true love, therefore, he could boldly testify about it. He got to know about the nature of God; that is, God is love. Now he testifies that anyone who dwells or walks in love dwells in God and God in him. This has therefore become one of the standards to measure who truly is a Christian. Any person who claims to be a Christian and walks in love is a true Christian. On the other hand anyone who claims to be a Christian and does not walk in love is not a Christian but a charlatan.
