Jesus Christ fed more than five thousand people with five loaves of bread and two fish from a boy’s lunch. After they were all satisfied He asked his disciples to gather the surplus. Why do you think He gathered the surplus? Firstly, He wanted those who were witnesses to the miracle to see God’s overflowing provision. Secondly, He was teaching the people to save in a period of abundance. Thirdly, He taught them to refrain from wasting resources. Finally, He wanted to give the surplus to the boy who gave up his lunch to teach the people that whoever gives to Christ receives plenty in return.
