As you desire to have a deeper relationship with God and pursue Him with all of your heart, know that real love is not that we love God but that He loved us first by sending His Son to die for our sins. Our love for God is only our response to what He has done for us first.
Knowing how much it cost Jesus Christ to die on the cross because of the Father’s great love for the world will bring you into deeper understanding of the Father’s heart. Romans 5:8 says, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
God already loved you even without you doing anything for Him. It is His great love for you that even before you came to know Jesus, He’s already paid the price for your sins 2000 years ago. And God has predestined you to know Jesus Christ, be restored in His perfect love for eternity, and received spiritual blessings and inheritances that He also gave to the Son.
As you pray for a deeper relationship with God, simply acknowledge the great love of God for you even before you knew Him. He loved you first that is why your heart is drawn back to return the love of the One who gave up His only Son, and His life for you. Thank Him for He will reveal His heart to you and you will enjoy a deeper relationship with Him. To God be all the glory!
