How To Pray For Youth Group

God has called Christians to reach out and disciple the next generation. The Bible has stressed the importance of this, and it has shown God’s heart for the next generation. In the history of Israel and Judah, we have seen kings who walked in the ways of the LORD; they did what was right in the sight of God. However, we see that when their sons took over their throne, they did the opposite. They walked in wickedness and did what was evil in the sight of God. The same thing happened with the generation that came after Joshua. Joshua’s generation knew God. However, the generation that came after them was a generation that didn’t know God. It shows us the importance of reaching out to the next generation; that we are to preach the Gospel to them, disciple them, and teach them Who God is. One of the ways we reach out to the next generation is by inviting them to youth groups. It is in youth groups where the next generation can hear God’s word, most especially the Gospel.

Judges 2:10

And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the Lord, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.

2 Kings 21:2

And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, after the abominations of the heathen, whom the Lord cast out before the children of Israel.

How do you pray for youth groups?

There are many things that you can pray for youth groups. You can pray for the one who is leading the youth group. You can pray for the leader to have the grace and wisdom that he or she needs when leading the youth group. You can also pray for God to use the leader as His mouthpiece to speak to the hearts of the young ones being reached out to in a youth group. You can also pray for the youth group itself. You can pray for more students to join the youth group; that they shall make time for it and bring their friends as well. Most of all, the essential prayer we can pray for the students is that they get to hear the Gospel and be saved. We pray for the Holy Spirit to turn their hearts of stone to hearts of flesh and open their spiritually blinded eyes. Remember that the end goal of youth groups is to preach the Gospel so that the students who get to hear the Gospel may repent and believe the person and work of Christ. It is good to pray for an increase in the number of youth group members; however, we want to see an increase in the number of members and an increase in the number of souls brought to Christ.

Acts 4:12

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Here is an example of prayer that you can pray for a youth group:

Heavenly Father, You are the God Who shows mercy. I pray for the youth group leader, that You would give him/her the grace and wisdom they need as they lead our youth group. I pray that You would give them the knowledge and understanding to teach Your word well to their youth group members. I pray that they shall faithfully preach Your word and rightly handle the word of truth. I pray for more students to join the youth group and that they shall also bring their friends. I pray that they shall always make time for their youth group. Most of all, I pray that You would turn the student’s hearts of stone to hearts of flesh so that they may receive the Gospel, repent, and believe the person and work of Christ. I also pray that You would open their spiritual eyes to see Your kingdom. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

What does the Bible say about teaching the next generation?

Teaching the next generation or instructing them in the ways of God is primarily the role of the parents. However, not all students have Christian parents. Even if we are not their parents, we should reach out to them. The example of what happened in the book of Joshua tells us how important it is to teach the next generation about God. If we don’t teach them about God, we will have a future generation that does not know the LORD.

Judges 2:10

And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the Lord, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.

Christ also commanded us to make disciples. That means preaching the Gospel to the young lost people. We are to disciple them and teach them everything that Jesus has commanded us. One of the examples that we have is Paul and Timothy. Paul was Timothy’s spiritual father, who mentored him and taught him. That is why in 2 Timothy 2:2, Paul told Timothy to teach or entrust to others and what he entrusted to Timothy.

Matthew 28:19-20

19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

2 Timothy 2:2

And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

Reaching out to the next generation and teaching them in the ways of God is very important because they are the future of society. If we want our future society to have godly values, then we have to start now, disciple this generation, and impart godly values in them. Our future politicians, doctors, business people, engineers, etc., are all on the campuses right now.
