A Pilot’s Prayer For Visibility

As Christians, we know how important it is for us to involve God in every aspect of our lives, including our professions. Whether a doctor, a teacher, a pastor, a missionary, a housewife, a businessman, etc., being a Christian means without Christ we can’t produce anything good; we are nothing. John 15:5 says, “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” Thus, daily prayer and communion with Christ and the meditation of His Word are crucial in our lives. 

In your profession as a pilot, you are not just an ordinary pilot but one who is meant to shine the light of Christ on your airline company, plane crew, and passengers. Heavenly Father, thank You for blessing me this day. As I go about my flights today, thank You for clearing the skies for smooth sailing and safe landings. Your hand of protection, guidance, and presence is upon my co-pilot, the crew, the passengers, and the aircraft in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Philippians 4:6-7

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Heavenly Father, I thank You because I have the peace of God that surpasses all understanding. As I fly the aircraft, You give me peace and clarity of mind. Thank You for a safe and smooth flight ahead in Jesus’ name. Amen.

3. Pray for alertness to follow all procedures and anticipate the dangers ahead.

Ephesians 6:18

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.

Heavenly Father, as I pray in the Spirit at all times, thank You for giving me alertness of mind for following the procedures carefully. Your Holy Spirit guides me and shows me any dangers ahead in Jesus’ name. Amen.

4. Pray for wisdom and prudence in challenging flight situations.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me wisdom and prudence as I always trust in You. When there is a challenging situation in the air, thank You for making my paths straight and for keeping everyone safe in Jesus’ name. Amen.

5. Pray for the presence of God in the aircraft.

Psalm 16:11

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: In thy presence is fulness of joy; At thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Heavenly Father, thank You for filling the aircraft with Your presence, which is full of joy and peace. You keep everyone safe and secure in Your presence even as they leave the plane, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

There are many specific things that you can pray for your passengers and crew as you dive deeply into the spirit realm and ask for the help of the Holy Spirit. He will reveal to you specific words, situations, and scripture that you can pray for the people He puts into your mind. Always work in partnership with the Holy Spirit as you pray. 

Holy Spirit, You are in charge as I pray. Show me the Father’s heart, and I pray His will is done in Jesus’ name. Amen.

How can a pilot pray to God when the weather is bad?

Visibility is vital to every pilot in charge of carrying people to their destinations safely. That being said, no one can control the weather, and turbulence, storms, strong winds, and so forth may come along to affect the flight’s visibility. As a pilot, that is a very challenging and even fearful situation.

In the Gospel, Jesus showed us that by faith it is actually possible to command the weather. When He was asleep in the boat with the disciples, the weather was so bad that the disciples were frightened. They thought they were going to drown, and they woke Jesus up. Jesus replied, “Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith?” Afterward, “He arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.” (see Matthew 8:23-27).

If you have faith in Jesus Christ and walk according to your authority in Him, you can speak to the weather, the clouds, and the wind. God shows us that anything is possible if you have faith in Christ Jesus.

So, you can speak and command the weather in this manner:

In Jesus’ name, I declare peace and stillness in the sky! Amen.

You can also rebuke the storm or the turbulence:

In Jesus’ name, I rebuke turbulence in the sky and declare clear visibility! Amen.
