A Prayer For A Celebrity

When we say “celebrity,” we’re not just referring to Hollywood actors. A celebrity could be any famous personality. It could be a famous lawyer who handles high-profile cases, a medical doctor who gives medical advice on social media, shows, etc., a contemporary thinker whom people subscribe to, a politician, and many others. Even if they are famous, they are still people who are in need of the Gospel. In fact, they are people whom God can use to expand His Kingdom, given the inherent influence these people have. Imagine your favorite singer coming to Christ and seeking to glorify God through the songs she writes and sings!

Father in heaven, I pray that You will allow famous celebrities who have influence in society to come to the saving knowledge of Christ so they can dedicate their entire lives to You and Your glory. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

What Can You Pray for a Celebrity?

Is the celebrity you want to pray for not yet a Christian? Then, the most important prayer you can say regards their salvation. Everything hinges on whether they have surrendered their lives to Christ. You cannot expect those celebrities to walk in the path of righteousness if they have not encountered Christ in the first place. They cannot proclaim Christ if they have not understood the Gospel and why Jesus died for them. Finally, they cannot have the same privileges you have as a child of God if they are still enemies of God in sin (Romans 5:10).

Therefore, for celebrities who are not yet Christians, pray for them to have the opportunity to hear the Gospel and that the Holy Spirit will open their spiritual eyes to see who Christ is and why they need Him (John 9:25). Pray that the Holy Spirit will soften their hardened hearts so that they will turn away from their life of sin, repent, and commit to follow Christ and dedicate their lives to Him (Galatians 2:20; Ezekiel 36:26).

If the celebrity you would like to pray for is already a Christian, then the prayers you can offer up to God are just like any other prayer you would say for a fellow brother or sister in Christ. You can pray that the celebrity will continue to grow and be transformed in Christlikeness (2 Corinthians 3:18). Pray also that he or she will continue to walk in the fear of the Lord, which is the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 9:10). 

 

Being a celebrity is, in a sense, being exposed to the world. Hence, pray that even while being famous, they will live in integrity and blamelessness above reproach (Psalms 101:2-4). As believers in whatever sphere God has placed them, pray that they will be faithful to God always, be the salt and light there, and glorify God by the way they live their lives and reflect God’s character (Proverbs 20:6 Many claim to have unfailing love, but a faithful person who can find?;) Matthew 5:13-16; 1 Corinthians 10:31). Pray that they shall grow in spiritual maturity, grow in grace day by day, and always put to death whatever is earthly in them. Then, they can continually put on the new self that is created after the likeness of God, in true righteousness and holiness (1 Corinthians 14:20; Colossians 3:5; Ephesians 4:22-24).

Heavenly Father, I pray that those celebrities who do not know You will get to hear the Gospel, believe it, and repent. I also pray for Christian celebrities to be bold in proclaiming the Gospel to other celebrities whom they know and for their lives to be a testament to the Gospel. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

How to Pray for a Celebrity?

You can pray for a celebrity by mentioning them during prayer time (1 Timothy 2:1  I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people). You can also pray for them if they have ever crossed your mind. Take heart in the knowledge that you can always utter a short prayer for them, like when you are riding the bus, waiting for your order at a restaurant, having a lunch break, etc.

As mentioned before, if they are not yet believers, then you can pray for them to be saved—ask for them to have the opportunity to hear the Gospel. If the celebrity you are praying for is already a Christian, any prayer regarding their well-being will suffice, whether you ask for good health, spiritual growth, protection from any danger, etc. If you are aware of something going on with that celebrity (they have an upcoming collaboration with a fellow celebrity, for example), pray that the project will bear fruit and that they will do it for God’s glory and be the salt and light in whatever way they can.

Father in heaven, I pray for the celebrities on social media who are famous for the content they make. Allow them to get the chance to hear the Gospel. As they do so, open their spiritual eyes, and soften their hardened hearts, Holy Spirit. Work in their hearts so that they may believe and repent. I also pray for celebrities who are Christians to witness Christ to others and glorify God through their holy living, showing that they are set apart. Give them the grace to preach the Gospel to other celebrities they know. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

If you are praying for a celebrity who is not a Christian, know that no matter how unlikely it may seem, such a famous person, who seems to have everything, will come to Christ as God’s grace works in their heart. No one is too far from the gracious hand of God. If God was able to change the heart of someone like Saul (whom we know as the apostle Paul), how much more that celebrity you have in mind? Even if they seem to have everything, if they don’t have Christ, then they don’t have everything, for all the world’s riches are but temporary.
