After these things the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward. Genesis 15:1 (KJV)
The God of heaven and earth be blessed for possessing all knowledge and wisdom; He knew what Abram was going through. He came to Abram at the point of need to encourage Abram to press on. He exhorted Abram not to fear because He was his faith, his shield, and his exceeding great reward. Faith to overcome all doubt; shield to protect him from the enemy; exceeding great reward to meet all his needs.
