A Nice Birthday Prayer

If you are about to have your birthday, there is no better way of celebrating it than coming to God in prayer, thanking Him, and giving Him all praise. A birthday is not actually about the person but all about God. It is all because of God, Who has been sustaining us, that we reach another birthday to celebrate. Therefore, on our birthday we are to glorify God and thank Him for every blessing He has given us (1 Cor 10:31 So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.).

Heavenly Father, thank You for sustaining me all these years. It is Your grace and mercy that have always been preserving me. Thank You for always watching over and taking good care of me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

 

What Can You Pray During Your Birthday?

You can pray a prayer of thanksgiving to God on your birthday. In 1 Thessalonians 5:18, it is written that we are to give thanks to God in all circumstances, for it is the will of God in Christ Jesus for us. This is how we can glorify God on our birthday. Ephesians 5:20 also tells us to give thanks to God always and for everything. So, what are those things that we are to give thanks to God for so that we may glorify Him?

One of them is God’s steadfast love and faithfulness. In Psalm 136:1, the psalmist writes that we should give thanks to the LORD, for He is good and His steadfast love endures forever. Whatever your age, God’s love has been there throughout those years because His steadfast love endures forever. God’s love never ceases, and His mercies never come to an end. They are new every morning because great is His faithfulness. Psalm 36:5 tells us that His steadfast love extends to the heavens, His faithfulness to the clouds. Therefore, on our birthday we will sing of the steadfast love of the LORD. We will make known His faithfulness to all generations (Psalm 89:1-2).

God’s faithfulness and steadfast love throughout our lives is one thing we should thank and praise Him on birthdays, but there is also the grace and mercies He has provided for us on every step of our faith journey. In our journey, we have encountered difficulties and challenges, yet we can persevere because God has been sustaining us and giving us the grace that we need (Psalm 145:14; Hebrews 4:16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.). God has been our strength when we were weary; He has been our comfort in times of pain. No matter what season we have been through – whether in the mountains or the valleys, in highs or lows, or in good times or bad times – we have seen how God has been leading us as our shepherd.

As written in Psalm 23, He is our shepherd Who always leads us to green pastures. He leads us beside still waters. He is the restorer of our souls. Even when we walk in the valley of the shadow of death, His rod and staff comfort us. We can endure and emerge victorious over our challenges because His goodness and mercy have been following us all our lives, and He will continue this provision.

Father in heaven, thank You for showing me goodness and mercy throughout my life. You have always been faithful, and the love that You have shown me is steadfast. That is my confidence as I face more years of my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

How Can You Pray During Your Birthday?

You can start by reflecting on those moments when God has been faithful, loving, gracious, and merciful toward you. Surely, as you ponder those things, many blessings will come to mind. Even the fact that you are still alive is something to be thankful to God for. As you think of the things for which you are appreciative, come to God in prayer with a joyful and grateful heart, thanking Him for all the grace and mercy He has shown You.

Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me the strength to endure the difficulties I have encountered in the past few years. I thank you because you have always provided for my needs. You have taken good care of me as Your child and never forsaken me. Indeed, LORD, You are faithful. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Most of all, never forget to thank God for the greatest gift You have ever received—Christ. Christ is the greatest treasure we have. In Him, we have life. In Christ, we have received adoption as God’s children. The things that You thanked God for are there only because You are in Christ. Not only are we restored in standing before the Father with the righteousness of Christ imputed to us, but we are also redeemed. We grow in holiness day by day, becoming more like Jesus, for we are made holy by God, Who is our identity.
