A Good Prayer For A Prayer Line

When we need prayers, there are organizations and church ministries whose purpose is to be there for people who need prayers. They are usually just a call, message, or text away, and you can tell them what you need prayers for. Such people who pray for us in times of need are our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Praying for those who serve us is one of the best things we can do for them since prayers are powerful and work well if the one who prays is in Christ (James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.).

Heavenly Father, I thank You for the godly men and women who take time and effort to pray for the needs and concerns of others. Just as they selflessly take time and effort to pray for others, may we also remember them in our prayers and pray for their respective needs and concerns. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

What Is A Prayer Line?

A close example of calling in a “prayer line” is calling “911”. Whenever you have a medical or safety emergency, you call 911 right away. It is a 24/7 line that you can call when you are in distress or in need of assistance. A prayer line works similarly. It is a line that you can call, message, or text whenever you need prayers. Whether the method of reaching out to them is through a call, message (chat), or text depends on the line you are trying to contact. Another difference is that a prayer line may or may not be available 24/7. However, if the line is not open 24/7, trust that they will pray for your prayer requests the moment they receive them.

Whether the people in a prayer line are paid ministers or volunteers depends on the organization or ministry. However, most people receiving prayer requests and praying for them are volunteers. You don’t necessarily have to be in a state of distress or emergency to let them know your prayers. As long as you have a prayer request that you would like others to pray for you and with you, you can contact a prayer line.

A prayer line comprises men and women who pray for the body of Christ and minister to others through prayers. (Galatians 6:2 Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.)

Father in heaven, thank You for these men and women who listen and read hundreds of prayer requests and pray for them daily, especially those doing it not out of being paid but out of love and service. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Why Pray For A Prayer Line?

There are people whose occupation is to serve us, such as policemen, firemen, soldiers, and even public servants. Given the nature of their work, we should always include them in our prayers for protection, good health, provision, wisdom, etc. Even though they are the ones serving and protecting us, they also have needs as fellow human beings. The same goes for our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ who listen and read the hundreds of prayer requests they receive every day. There are also times when they need to be prayed for, as they encounter the same challenges that we encounter.

The Bible says in 1 Tim 2:1 that we are to make supplications and prayers for all people, including those who pray for us in prayer lines. Ephesians 6:18 also tells us that we are to make supplications for all saints (Eph 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;). Hence, praying for a prayer line is not the same as praying for the organization or ministry; we are praying for our fellow brothers and sisters who comprise that prayer line. Without them, there wouldn’t be any prayer line to call or contact when we need prayerful assistance.

What and How Can You Say A Good Prayer For A Prayer Line?

A good prayer for a prayer line addresses the concerns of the volunteers or anyone else who listens and reads the prayer requests and prays for them. Aside from praying for their concerns, you can also pray for perseverance, grace, and strength upon them as they do their ministry work. Most of all, pray that they will always do what they do for the glory of God and Christ’s name.

If you know people who pray in the prayer line, ask them if there are things that you can pray for them. If not, you can still ask the prayer line as a whole if they have any concerns to be prayed for. If asking them is not possible, you can ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom regarding the prayer points you can pray for them.

Below is an example of a good prayer for a prayer line:

Heavenly Father, I pray for these men and women in [name of the prayer line] who are taking time and effort to minister to others through prayer. I pray that You will comfort and strengthen them, just as they did through their prayers for others. You know of their difficulties. Remind them that You are the God who comforts them. Provide for their financial, physical, and emotional needs and keep them safe. Whenever they feel exhausted, refresh them, LORD, and give them the grace to persevere. Open their eyes to Your glory so that they may do everything out of worship for You and Your Son. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Just as those brothers and sisters in Christ pray for others out of service and love, remember that we must also pray for them out of love. We want to know their concerns and secure their well-being in prayers because, as our fellow brothers in Christ, we love them (1 Corinthians 16:14). We love them thanks to the overflow of God’s love for us (1 John 4:19).
