Have you been going through difficult times recently? Although we are children of God, we are not exempt from suffering and hardships. However, we can ask God for strength, especially when we feel weak, weary, and discouraged. We must also remember that the Word of God is our weapon against all lies of the enemies (Eph. 6:17). There are passages in the Bible that can serve as helpful prayer verses as we face adversities and trials.
Some of these are Psalm 27:1, Psalm 46:1, Isaiah 40:29, Philippians 4:13, and 2 Corinthians 12:9-10. By declaring these verses during prayer, you can experience the strength only God can provide. Holding on to His Word during trials can also increase our faith.
5 Prayer Verses for Strength During Difficult Times
1. Declare that God is your light and salvation (Psalm 27:1)
Psalm 27:1 reminds us that we have nothing to fear because God can save us. Whatever situation you are facing today, the Lord can help you. Even amid darkness, He is there to give you hope. Declare this prayer and experience strength:
“Almighty God, I believe You are my hope and salvation during these hardships and trials. I have nothing to fear because You are for me and not against me. My enemies cannot harm me because You will protect me against their evil schemes. Thank You, Lord, for Your faithfulness in my life. I renounce all fears in my heart and declare courage and strength in Jesus’ Name! Amen.”
2. Ask for God’s help (Psalm 46:1)
We should not think we are alone, especially when experiencing difficulties. Whether on the mountaintops or in our lowest valley, the Lord remains by our side. God wants us to ask for His help. He also offers us refuge in His presence, where we can experience protection and peace even in our most trying times. Below is a prayer that you can declare during difficulties:
“Dear Lord, I ask for Your help during difficulties. Please give me the strength to endure and stand firm in my faith. I surrender all my burdens into Your hands, Lord. You are my refuge. Let me experience peace in Your presence. I entrust everything to You. All the glory and honor belong to You alone. Amen.”
3. Pray that God increases your strength during adversity (Isaiah 40:29)
Encountering difficulties may weaken our faith and drain our strength. But the good news is that the Lord can give power to the faint and increase the strength of those already losing their might. If you feel weak today, remember that you can rest in God’s presence and ask Him to renew your strength. If you don’t know how to do this, below is a prayer that can help you:
“My God and Savior, thank You for being the Source of my strength. Without You, it is impossible to run the race any longer. Lord, I ask You to provide me with power and might as I face the difficulties in my life. Remind me that I am not running this race alone, but You are always there for me. Teach me to depend on You and not on my own abilities. Provide comfort to my weary soul, Lord, so that I can soar like an eagle in trials and hardships. For this, I pray. Amen.”
4. Declare that you can do all things through Christ Who strengthens you (Philippians 4:13)
Relying on our abilities can make it impossible for us to reach new heights, but depending on God’s strength can make impossible things possible. You may be facing a dead-end situation where there is no other choice but to back down. However, God can give us the strength to make things happen. Declare that you can do all things through God Who strengthens you:
“Almighty God, I declare that I can do all things through You Who strengthen me. I will not back down despite the difficulties that I am experiencing. My life is in Your hands, and You are in total control of everything. Although I am suffering today, I believe You have plans for me. With You, Lord, nothing is impossible. I praise You for Your goodness and grace. Amen.”
5. Declare that God’s grace is sufficient for you today (2 Corinthians 12:9-10)
Paul of Tarsus endured hardships, persecutions, and difficulties. However, God revealed that His grace is enough, and it was made perfect in Paul’s weaknesses. God doesn’t expect us to overcome through our own ability or strength whenever we face trials. In contrast, He wants us to depend fully on His grace. Whenever we are in total surrender, God can do more in our lives. Below is a prayer declaring that God’s grace is sufficient for you today:
“Abba Father, whatever I am going through today, I believe Your grace is enough for me. I can survive and thrive despite all these difficulties because of Your goodness. I surrender everything to Your hands, Father. I am tired of doing things independently, relying on my capability and strength. Today, I choose to depend on You, believing You will save me. Amen.”
God didn’t promise us a life free from difficulties, sufferings, and persecutions. However, He promised He would help us and deliver us from all our troubles (Ps. 34:17-18). Whenever you feel weary from adversity, remember the promises of God and declare them as you pray. You will find comfort and peace as You believe in His Word.
