A Mother’s Prayer for Teacher

As a mother, you are concerned about your child’s well-being. You are concerned for his or her physical well-being, so you make sure that your child is healthy, eats proper and nutritious food, recovers if he or she is sick, and is always safe and sound. The same goes for your child’s emotional and mental well-being; you provide the emotional and mental support that your child needs. This involves being there for your child, listening to them, comforting them, and being someone they can rely on. One of the subsets of your child’s welfare that you are concerned about is their educational well-being, especially the influence of their teachers and the things that they impart to them. That is also one of the things that you can pray for as a mother.

Heavenly Father, I pray that the teacher who will teach my child in school is a teacher who strives to teach academics with excellence and who will uphold moral values and truth. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

What Can a Mother Pray for the Teacher?

There are several things that a mother can pray for the teacher or teachers at their child’s school. These prayer points that we will mention are applicable whether your child is in kindergarten, elementary, high school, college, or even the graduate school level.

As your child studies, you want them to receive a quality education that will help them become competent men or women in the future. Perhaps that is also one reason you and your child chose the school where he or she is studying right now. In line with that, pray that the teachers who will be teaching the subjects your child is taking shall teach with excellence. Pray that they shall be teachers who do not merely read textbooks or presentations but also seek to impart knowledge and understanding to their students and aim to make them competent in what they are studying.

Another prayer you could have as a mother is for the teacher/s to impart moral values and uphold the truth. A teacher does not have to be a Christian to have morals and to uphold truth (here, we are not talking about biblical truth but general knowledge such as how there are only two genders biologically. In the current educational landscape, we see education professionals trying to indoctrinate their students with liberal ideologies even at a very young age. The truths that built Western societies are now being thrown out for the sake of liberalism or post-modern thinking. With that in mind, pray that the teacher/s who will teach your child shall be the kind that still has a sense of morality and will never discard the truth.

Most of all, if your child’s teacher is not yet a believer, then the most important prayer you can pray is for them to come to know Jesus Christ. Even if they have good morals and uphold the truth, being moral does not save a person, only the finished work of Christ (Isaiah 64:6, Ephesians 2:1-9, Romans 6:23). Also, even if these teachers know the truth, it is never the kind of truth that God has revealed through His Word and through Christ, Who is the manifestation of truth Himself. (But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. Isaiah 64:6) (For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23)

How Can You Pray for the Teacher?

You can pray for the teacher/s of your child by first asking yourself what concerns you about them. The prayer points we have given above are just some of the concerns you could pray for. As you pause and think about what your cares and concerns are for your child’s teachers, who play a big part in your child’s well-being, you will know what those concerns are, and you can present those concerns to God in prayer (Philippians 4:6-7)(1 Peter 5:6-7). (Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7)(Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. 1 Peter 5:6-7)

Knowing that your school’s teachers significantly influence your child’s well-being, it is expected that you would be concerned regarding who is teaching your child. The good thing is that the Bible tells us to cast our cares and burdens on God because He cares for us. He also cares about the well-being of your child.

Father in heaven, I pray for the teacher/s of my child that they will teach him with excellence and help him to be competent in what he is studying. May his teacher/s be the ones who uphold that which is the truth, and may they have moral values. I pray they won’t forsake my child’s education for their personal ideologies. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Heavenly Father, I also pray for my child’s teacher/s who haven’t known Christ yet—that they will have the opportunity to hear the Gospel and that You would soften their hearts so they may repent and believe. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Father, I pray that his teachers shall always cater to my child’s educational needs and be patient if he has difficulty catching up. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

As a mother, surely you have many different concerns regarding your child. That is precisely why we pray for our child’s well-being, especially when it comes to their educational well-being. We can’t be there for our child 24 hours a day, seven days a week. However, God is always there with our children. He is the only One on Whom we can ultimately depend. That is why we are to humble ourselves and cast our burdens to God.
