Bible Verses About Salvation

Studying Bible verses about salvation gives us more understanding of the love of God for His children. The term “salvation” means to be rescued or delivered from peril. It might be a common word to the world, but for Christians, salvation means everything. Salvation is a priceless gift from God that cannot be bought or earned. When the Bible speaks of our salvation, it is more than just being delivered from hell. It is about being saved from the consequences of our sins and the wrath of God.

This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

Bible Verses About Salvation

Ever since the fall of Adam and Eve, human beings have suffered from a threatening and deadly condition—we have acquired the nature of the first Adam, which is corrupt and sinful. God is holy, He is the light, and there is no darkness in Him (1 John 1:5). The holiness of God and the depravity of mankind is an antithesis. Anything contrary to God’s nature and attributes deserves punishment. Every human being is a sinner at birth; sinful from when our mothers conceived us (Psalm 51:5). The Bible tells us that the wage of sin is death (Romans 6:23). Ezekiel 18:20 also tells us that the soul who sins shall die. God is just but is, at the same time, the Justifier. Since He is the God of Justice, it is just right that He punishes everyone who sins. The punishment is death, yet He chooses to save us. God can send us all to hell, yet He gave us salvation.

This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

Bible Verses About Salvation

Salvation in the Bible means being delivered from the wrath of God that is to come (Romans 5:9; 1 Thessalonians 1:10). Because of sin and guilt, God has the right and authority to demonstrate His wrath toward us. But He sent Jesus Christ to rescue us from the consequences of sin and guilt. Everyone has sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Regardless of how you view yourself – whether you think you are a good or a bad person – it is clear that we human beings have broken the law of God. God is angry about this condition of ours, and all of us are on our way to eternal damnation. But salvation in Christ delivers us from this greatest problem.

Bible Verses About Salvation

The Bible is clear when it tells us that the basis of our salvation is grace (Ephesians 2:8). Without the grace of God, salvation is impossible. In this fallen world of ours, there is no way for us to produce anything good apart from God. God displayed His grace to us by giving us His Son. Instead of receiving the wrath of God, Jesus took our place and received the punishment that we all deserve. He experienced the full wrath of God and experienced death for us. The death of Jesus Christ was a substitution. “He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Corinthians 5:21). This act is pure grace and can only come from the one we are indebted to.

Bible Verses About Salvation

If the basis of our salvation is grace, its instrument is faith. For us to receive grace, we need to make sure that we have faith in Jesus Christ. Just like grace, faith is something God can be produced in all Christians through the power of the Holy Spirit. It is critical that we have faith in Jesus Christ for our salvation and that He alone can remove all our sins and make us righteous. It is also important to note that the result of our salvation produces good works. The Bible tells us that faith without works is dead (James 2:17). We become new Christians and become obedient to God’s laws and commandments. We need to keep in mind, though, that we are not saved by works.

Bible Verses About Salvation

The best thing about our salvation in Christ is that it is real, true, and lasting. We can have complete or total assurance in our salvation. Paul encouraged us Christians to be confident of this—that God, Who began the good work within us, will continue His work until it is finished on the day when Jesus returns (Philippians 1:6). 2 Samuel 22:3 and Psalm 18:2 tell us that the horn of our salvation is God Himself. God is the horn of our salvation because He used His power to protect and secure us, and that is all through Jesus Christ.

Bible Verses About Salvation

Satan might prowl around like a roaring lion, but God is our refuge and the horn of our salvation. God is far more powerful than Satan and the world. In Jesus Christ we can say that we are secure and have a full assurance that our salvation cannot be taken from us. Jesus promised that no one can snatch us out from the Father’s hand (John 10:27-30).
