Bible Verses About Overcoming Fear

We are so blessed to have encouraging Bible verses about overcoming fear. The Word of God is filled with great pieces of advice on how we should face and conquer fear. Life can be full of troubles, challenges, problems, defeats, and enemies. These negative things in life can lead to fear, and sometimes fear can be very overwhelming. Fear can seize anyone, even Christians. Once fear devours us, our ability to think rationally disintegrates. Fear can swallow hope and make us overlook the promises of God. It can make our lives much more difficult. This is not how God wants us to live our lives. He doesn’t want us to fall apart, and He doesn’t want fear to reign in our lives.

Overcoming fear might not be a walk in the park, but it is very much possible. The only way we can defeat fear is by trusting God and His word. There are many “what ifs” in life, and sometimes we feel like we are trapped in a particular situation where there is no escaping. Fear can consume us and enshroud our minds with dark and despairing thoughts. Life becomes a forlorn journey, and moving forward becomes pointless. For us to overcome fear, we need to dwell on thoughts that are true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable, excellent, and praiseworthy (Philippians 4:8). Always remember what God has done for you and think of Him always as your Great Father, Who will walk with you even through the valley of the shadow of death.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Bible Verses About Overcoming Fear

Believing in God and His presence is a must if we are to overcome fear. We might not see or touch God, but His presence is enough to give us peace and comfort. Inviting the presence of the Holy Spirit is essential, as this can help us feel that we are not alone. Fear dissipates once we truly believe that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). His all-sufficient grace can remove all the fear and gloom we feel inside us. God is always in control, and He is sovereign in all things, including your fear and hopelessness. For you to overcome fear, you need to let God take control over your life and in every situation. You need to call upon the name of the Lord and be saved (Romans 10:13).

Bible Verses About Overcoming Fear

The amazing thing about Jesus is that He not only frees us from the bondage of sin but also frees us from fear of what is to come. Jesus told us not to worry about our life since the Father is with us always (Matthew 6:25-34). Jesus has a listening ear and hears our cry (Psalm 40:1). There is no denying that feeling fear is real, but God can be trusted if you put your trust in Him. By placing your trust in the Lord, you will be able to renew your strength, and, just like the psalmist, you will be able to declare, “I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?” (Psalm 56:3-4).

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
