In the Bible, Hannah was a barren wife of Elkanah, and many times she cried about the LORD not giving her children; this was worsened by Peninnah, the other wife, who taunted Hannah and had children. One time, as she prayed to the LORD, making a vow of dedicating the child to the LORD, she conceived a baby boy, who became Samuel the Prophet (see 1 Samuel 1). In the case of Rebekah, Isaac’s wife, she was also childless, so Isaac prayed to the LORD on behalf of her wife, and she became pregnant (see Genesis 25:21).
