Finding Bible verses about children is easy, and it is important that Christians know what God is saying when it comes to these little ones. From the beginning to the end of the Bible, we hear God speaking about the role and importance of children in our society. It is very obvious how Jesus loved children. In fact, Jesus even said that unless we change and become like little children, we will never enter the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 18:1-5). Since children are very important to God, it is essential that Christians should also give importance to children. Believers in Christ should know how to be able to connect with children. The Bible is clear when it says that children are a gift from the Lord and that it is a reward from Him (Psalm 127:3). When God says that children are gifts, it is necessary that Christians know how to receive them. God gave us specific instructions on treating or disciplining our children. God desires that all generations would continue to obey and uphold His commands. For this to become possible, He commanded us to teach our children all His statutes and all He had done for Israel or for us believers (Deuteronomy 6:6-7; 11:19).

One generation is sure to crumble when its people fail to instill God’s laws into the minds and hearts of children. Taking care of our children is not only a responsibility but also an assignment from God. Teaching them values, virtues, and the truth of God for their lives is vital. Certain societies or groups of people will surely experience abundance and prosperity if they know how to train their children. There might be countless books or manuals that can give us an idea of how to raise or treat children, but the Bible alone provides true, infallible, and profitable instructions.

Paul encourages all Christian fathers not to provoke their children to anger by the way they treat them. Rather, bring children up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord (Ephesians 6:4). It is not good to set impossible standards for our children to follow. Parents should not be in despair if their children fail to achieve something. Ridiculing and humiliating children as a means of punishment is not the Christian way. It is also essential that we are consistent when it comes to disciplining our children. The father and the mother should be in harmony when it comes to discipline. Children are human beings, so they can get angry or provoked. This is why our home should be filled with the Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). If we are implementing certain standards for our children, then we must make sure that they are the standards of God. The Bible tells us to bring our children up in the discipline and the instruction of the Lord. This means that we need to train children the way our Lord God trains us. Our God tells us to be patient (Psalm 86:15), slow to anger (Psalm 145:8), and forgiving (Daniel 9:9). Any goal of a human being is to glorify God and to become more and more like Christ. Philippians 2:5 tells us that we should think and act like Jesus Christ. And so, Christians need to make sure that they train their children to think and act like Jesus Christ. We should teach them not only values and life lessons but also the person and works of Jesus Christ.

The greatest lesson that we can ever impart to our children is to guide them in how to conform to the image of Christ (Romans 8:29). Successful parents are those who can teach their children how to become like Christ. It is not just about giving them time, enjoyment, love, peace, possessions, education, and honors but also Christ. The wonderful thing about raising children according to God’s plan and will is that it causes us joy (Proverbs 23:24). Furthermore, a wise child gives us pleasure that is both priceless and eternal.
