Bible Verses About Wives

Christian husbands should take the time to read Bible verses about wives. Understanding the Word of God when it comes to how we treat our wives and understand their role in marriage is beneficial. Wives are more than just our maid, cook, or babysitter. Husbands should know that their wives are the heir of their world and a beautiful partner in life that provides delight and wisdom. There are many marriages that have broken or ended in divorce because husbands have failed to love and value their wives. Blessed are the Christian husbands, for God has set standards for how to make our marriage last. One of the keys to a lasting marriage is loving our wives just as we love ourselves.

The Apostle Paul emphasized many times in Ephesians 5 that husbands should love their wives. In fact, the words “love your wives” is mentioned six times in just eight verses! Indeed, Paul is trying to make a point. Some of us focus too much on “wives’ submission to the husband” and forget how important it is to love them. It is true that it is the responsibility of a wife to submit to their husband, yet Paul only spends three limited verses on this topic or command. All nine verses, however, are about loving our wives. The Church of Christ should spend more time thinking, encouraging, and teaching husbands how to truly love their wives.

We are exhorted in Ephesians 5 (Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her Ephesians 5:25) to love our wives just as Christ loved the Church. The love of Christ for the Church is pure and genuine. Just like Christ, our love towards our wives should not be momentary but continuous. Husbands should not love their wives for just a season. It is more than emotions and feelings. Loving our wives is a commitment and an act of obedience to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Christian husbands should be able to gaze upon their wives with true joy and love. Wives should make their husbands feel content and very satisfied every day.

Bible Verses About Wives

A strong and healthy marriage is to be expected when both husband and wife institute God’s principles or standards of marriage in the Bible. This is why it is so important that we study Bible verses about wives. The Biblical concept of marriage involves oneness, just like the oneness of Jesus and the Church. The Bible also tells us that we should “rejoice in the wife of our youth (Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth. Proverbs 5:18). When the Bible says “wife of your youth,” it means that no matter what her age, a wife will always be that same girl you got to know and married. Age might make her look old, but she is the same girl you married back when you both were young. Your wife will always be that girl who gave herself to you on your wedding day. You can always expect the same happiness, comfort, tenderness, warmth, and love from your wife, no matter how old you both are.

Bible Verses About Wives

Always remember that your youthful romance with your wife is real and not a foolish illusion. It was designed by our Creator. Your marriage hinted at the ultimate reality, which is the eternal love of Christ for His bride—the Church. Our wives are a precious gift from the Lord. There might be bad or dull times along the way, but don’t forget that just as Christ was willing to lay down His life for His bride, Christian husbands should also be willing to fight and die for their wives.
