A Prayer Before Entering The Doors To Work

As believers, we always pray to God as we start our day. We come before God’s throne in prayer to ask Him for the grace and mercy that we need. Hence, as we start the day, we must pray for the grace and mercy we need to face it. For those who are working, that means asking God for grace and mercy as they go to work. However, those people can pray and ask God for strength, grace, mercy, and wisdom, not just when they wake up or get ready to leave but also as they enter the doors of their respective workplaces.

Father in heaven, remind me to always depend on You and the graces and mercies You give me as I go to work. May I work and glorify You not with my own strength but through Christ who strengthens me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

What Can You Pray As You Go To Work?

As you go to work, there are several prayer points that you can pray, knowing that those shall be essential as you do the work that God has called you to do. One of them is praying to God for strength. At times, we may encounter challenges at work. Those challenges may be discouraging, and we may feel disheartened to face them. That is where we must ask God for the strength we need as we face not just another work day but also the challenges we know we will face there. That also includes praying for strength whenever one is going through tough times. It is challenging to go to work, focus on it, and be excellent if one is going through difficulties. Hence, we need to pray and ask God for the strength to continue glorifying Him in our work and facing another day (Philippians 4:13; Psalms 46:1).

Another prayer that you can pray for is wisdom (James 1:5-6). As you encounter challenges at work, you may pray and ask God for the wisdom you need to solve those challenges. It takes wisdom to discern how to address a problem at work and have the understanding and knowledge you need. Wisdom is not just for solving problems at work but also for learning how to navigate matters at work in order to live righteously and glorify God through how one conducts one’s life at work. As written in Proverbs 9:10, the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.

Grace is also an important prayer point that you can pray for. While it takes grace for you to face work and its challenges as you walk through the door of your workplace, grace is more than just having the strength and wisdom to navigate matters at work and face those challenges head-on. It also takes grace for you to reflect the character of Christ to your workmates (Colossians 3:10; Ephesians 4:24). It is also by grace that you become the salt and light to your workplace and live your life in a manner that points people towards God (Matthew 5:16). It also takes grace to be diligent and hardworking, knowing that you are working heartily for the Lord and not for men (Colossians 3:23-24 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.).

A Prayer Before Entering The Doors To Work

Heavenly Father, I thank You because You are the source of my strength whenever it’s challenging to go to work. Thank You because You give wisdom to me generously and always sustain me with the grace I need as I work. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

How Do You Pray As You Enter Your Workplace?

Apart from praying for strength, wisdom, and grace, as mentioned above, you can also pray for any concerns you may have as you begin each day at work. For example, let’s say you are about to walk through the door of your workplace as you begin your workday, and you know that there is an upcoming meeting to discuss very important matters. You can pray to God regarding that meeting.

As you walk through the door of your workplace, you can take a pause, lift to God the concerns that You have for the day, ask Him for the strength, wisdom, and grace that you need, and dedicate your work day to God, knowing that You are ultimately working for Him.

In Philippians 4:6-7, it is written that we are to present our prayer requests to God where His peace that transcends all understanding guards our hearts and minds. That means whatever concerns we have regarding work as we walk through the door, we can lift them to God, and His peace shall guard our hearts and minds. Also, we are to pray and cast those concerns that we have to God as we walk through the door of work because, in 1 Peter 5:6-7, it is written that we are to humble ourselves, which means not take it all alone, but to depend on God and cast your cares to God.

Heavenly Father, we have an important meeting today with one of our clients, which will determine whether we close the deal or not. I pray that it goes well and that You will give us the wisdom we need as we negotiate, present, and close the deal. You know the personal challenges I have. Give me the strength to go to work and take up my responsibilities. Give me the grace that I need today, and as I walk through the door of my office, remind me that I am ultimately doing this for You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

In 1 Corinthians 10:31, it is written that in everything we do, we are to do it for the glory of God. That is a good reminder and verse to consider as you pause by the door and pray before walking through it. No matter what challenges or concerns we may have as we face another work day, we are still motivated and zealous, knowing that as we do our work, we do it not for money or men but for God’s glory, which is the highest reason why we do the work that we do.
