Think Only of the Good Things

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

Philippians 4:8

All battles begin in our mind. With a single thought that is not from God, the enemy can distract us, drain us, or cause us confusion, such that we will not be able to accomplish what God wants for us. The good news is that we don’t have to battle anymore, because victory already belongs to us! Jesus Christ already paid for it on the cross and He has disempowered the works of the flesh and the works of the devil for all who believe in Him.

Sometimes, the enemy will strike you with spiritual arrows that begin in your mind. When your mind is not filled with the Word of God and with the things of God, the enemy can hit you with his arrows and implant thoughts of fear, stress, anxiety, worry and doubt in your mind in the hopes of penetrating your heart.

You can see from our key verse above that we must think and meditate only on things that are true, noble, just, praiseworthy and virtuous. Any other thoughts should be discarded; keep your thoughts captive to the obedience of Christ.

As you come in prayer to our Heavenly Father, thank Him, for He has given you victory over the works of the enemy. You can live thanks to Christ’s victory and rest in His power. You no longer have to battle, for He has already won the fight. Praise God and magnify Him. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you thoughts that will glorify God in the name of Jesus. Shift your thoughts and see how you change the atmosphere around you. You are a child of God and you have the mind of Christ!
