How To Pray After A Miscarriage

Having a miscarriage is a painful thing to happen for a couple. Despite the baby still being a fetus inside the mother’s womb, it is a living being. The loss of a baby through a miscarriage feels like losing a newborn baby. In that time of sorrow, there is no better thing to do but to pray to God. It is only in God through Christ that you can receive comfort for the grief that you are currently experiencing.

Father in heaven, thank You because You are the God who comforts us. You have remained near us in this time of difficulty. Despite having a heavy heart, give us the grace we need to face every day. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Father in heaven, thank You because You are the God who comforts us. You have remained near us in this time of difficulty.

How To Pray After A Miscarriage

What can you pray for after a miscarriage?

Comfort is definitely one of the things you can pray for as you go through the grieving process after losing a baby. The good thing is that the Bible tells us that God is the one who comforts us. In 2 Corinthians 1:3-5, it is written that God is the God of all comfort and the Father of mercies, who comforts us in times of affliction. That is why we can comfort others because we ourselves have received comfort from God. We receive that comfort only because we are in Christ and adopted as God’s children, as written in Romans 8:15.

Another thing you can pray for is grace and strength. It is difficult to face our everyday life when we are grieving. It feels like something terribly heavy is weighing on our hearts, and we may find it difficult to face even one more day. It is in those circumstances that we should come to Christ. In Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus said to come to Him all those who are heavily laden. He invites us to take His yoke upon us and learn from Him, for His yoke is easy. In Him, we will find rest for our souls.

When it comes to the grace that we need, in Hebrews 4:16, it is written that in Christ, we have this confidence to come before God’s throne and ask for grace and mercy in times of need. Surely, it is only through grace that you can persevere in life and face the hardships you are currently navigating. Also, it is written in Philippians 4:13 that we can do all things through Christ, who strengthens us. This means that despite life’s difficulties, sorrows, and pains, we can still thrive as Christians. We can live a victorious and dynamic life as Christians and still obey God, worship Him, and do His will through Christ, who strengthens us.

How to pray after a miscarriage?

When you pray after a miscarriage, you can be honest with God and pour out what is in your heart. King David did the same in Psalm 31:9-10. King David asked God for grace as he was going through something difficult. He opened up to God and confessed that he was in distress. His eyes, soul, and body were wasted in grief; he was in sorrow, his bones were wasted away, and his strength was failing.

After you pour yourself out to God, you can pray and ask God for grace, strength, healing, and comfort. The Bible says in Philippians 4:6-7 that we are to present our prayer requests to God, where His peace, which transcends all understanding, shall guard our hearts and minds. It is also written in 1 Peter 5:6-7 that we are to humble ourselves and cast our cares or burdens to God because He cares for us. We need grace, strength, healing, and comfort, and we ought to pray and ask for those things from God.

Heavenly Father, me and my spouse are grieving for our lost baby. We had expectations of what he could become, how we would raise him, and the family we could become. However, I know that nothing is outside of your sovereignty and providence. Even in these trying times, your mercy and goodness surely follow us. I pray for grace and strength for my spouse and myself as we continue to face life. Heal our broken hearts, Father. Remind us of our joy in Christ. Remind us that You are a merciful God who is just to welcome our lost baby in Your arms. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Father in heaven, thank You because You are the God who comforts us. You have remained near us in this time of difficulty.

How To Pray After A Miscarriage

In Psalm 34:18, it is written that the LORD stays near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. That is one of your assurances as you go through the painful season after a miscarriage. God is never far away. He is with You and will save your crushed spirit. It is also written in Psalm 147:3 that He is the One who binds up your wounds and heals your broken heart. In other words, God is your healer and will make you whole again, as you are whole in Christ.

Even if it seems to be difficult to face every morning, the Bible says in Lamentations 3:22-23 that the LORD is faithful. His steadfast love never ceases, and His mercies are new every morning. Even though you and your spouse feel like you are walking through the valley of the shadow of death, He is beside you. His rod and staff shall comfort you. He is the One who leads you, even if you find yourself in a dark valley. Lastly, God is our ultimate good. He is the source of the goodness of everything in life. As written in Psalm 16:2, apart from God, we are nothing or would have nothing good because it is our ultimate good in which we find joy, completeness, and satisfaction. That is why, even in times of sorrow, we can still praise, thank, and worship God for who He is, just like we read in the Psalms of King David.
