A Child’s Prayer for Peace

There are seasons in life where we may feel that we are in the middle of a storm. Those are the times when we go through challenges, obstacles, hardships, trials, and sufferings in life. We may feel anxieties and worries; however, those things should not reign in our hearts. In Christ, we can have peace even if we are in the middle of a storm.

Here is a prayer you can pray for your heart whenever you feel anxiety or worry:

I speak to have peace in my heart and for my emotions to be still. I thank You, Father, because no matter what season I am going through right now, and even if it seems that I am in the middle of a storm, I have peace through Christ. You are the God Who sustains me; Whose mercies are new every morning. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Heavenly Father, I pray for peace between me and [family/friend].

What is biblical peace?

Most people think that peace is the absence of conflicts, chaos, or storms in life. While these indeed denote peace, biblical peace is more than these. The Hebrew word for peace is called “shalom” in the Bible, and it refers to being whole or complete. When you put “shalom” into action, it means to bring completeness or to restore it. For example, in 1 Kings 9:1, the word “shalom” was used when King Solomon brought about completeness by finishing the building of the Temple. Shalom, or the state of being complete, also applies to the well-being of a person. For example, David had shalom despite being chased down by King Saul. His well-being is complete despite his situation because he has God, Who gives him peace (Psalm 4:8). Whenever he feels fear or despair, it is God who restores his soul.

The same completeness or wholeness applies whenever someone has done wrong to someone. When a person compensates justly the one they have wronged, it brings back wholeness or restoration to their relationship (2 Chronicles 7:11). That is why, if you have broken relationships with a loved one, you can pray for peace so your relationship will be restored or brought back to wholeness again.

The New Testament is written in Aramaic-Greek. The word for peace there is “eirene.” The Bible says that Christ is our peace. Therefore, Christ is our “eirene” as written in Ephesians 2:14-15. He is our peace because He is the One who brought our broken relationship with God back to being whole again by restoring it through His dying for our sins on the cross. He reconciled to Himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of His cross.

Ephesians 2:14-15

14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

Colossians 1:20

And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

That is also why the world needs Jesus. Jesus is the only One that can bring wholeness and restoration to the world and the lives of each person. The Bible tells us that Christ, Who is the Prince of Peace, came to bring peace (wholeness, completeness, restoration) to this world (Isaiah 9:6-7). As Christians, we have to propagate peace (wholeness and restoration) by preaching Christ to the world and always making peace (wholeness and restoration) with other people, especially when it comes to our fellow Christians (Romans 12:8), (Ephesians 4:3). If you are going through a storm in your life, know that Christ is your peace (John 14:27), (Luke 2:14). It means that you are whole, complete, and restored in Christ no matter what you are going through.

Isaiah 9:6-7

6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.

Romans 12:8

Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.

What is a good prayer for peace?

Knowing that biblical peace is bringing wholeness, completeness, or restoration, you can pray for peace in so many aspects of your life. If you have a broken relationship with a family or a friend, here is one prayer for peace that you can pray:

Heavenly Father, I pray for peace between me and [family/friend]. I pray that our relationship will be restored from being broken and that it will be made whole again. Give us the grace to forgive each other and cover whatever offense we have done towards each other. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Heavenly Father, I pray for peace between me and [family/friend].

You can also pray for peace for yourself as you go through trials and tribulations:

Heavenly Father, I thank You because even if I face trials and tribulations in life, Christ has overcome the world. In these seasons of storms that I am going through, I am whole, complete, and restored in Christ. Christ is my peace. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Heavenly Father, I pray for peace between me and [family/friend].

Another thing that you can pray for is peace in the world. Here is how you can pray for peace to come upon the world:

Heavenly Father, give all Christians in this world the boldness and the courage to preach Christ to the lost because only Christ can bring wholeness and restoration into this world. I pray that You would open the spiritual eyes of the people, so they may see that true peace is only found in Christ. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Heavenly Father, I pray for peace between me and [family/friend].

A Child’s Prayer for Peace

Only God, through Christ, can make you whole, complete, and restored. Nothing else. We may place our peace on money, objects, people, and more, but in the end, they will crumble. The only solid peace in which we are secured is Christ, who gave us His peace.
