A Christmas Prayer for My Son

Christmas is a season where we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Christ is God’s greatest gift to us. All of our prayers during Christmas are based upon the good news of Christmas, which is that Jesus was born to come and save the world. As most people say, Jesus is the reason for the season. With that said, we must always fix our eyes on Christ as we celebrate Christmas and pray for someone in line with the season of Christmas because Christ is the essence of the celebration.

Knowing that Jesus is the reason for the season of Christmas, here is Christmas prayer for your son:

Heavenly Father, I pray for my son that he will never forget that Your Son, Jesus, who was born to save us from sin and eternal death, is the reason why we are celebrating the season of Christmas. I pray that he shall always fix his eyes on Christ as he celebrates and thinks of Christmas. Without Christ in the picture, Christmas is not celebrated. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Heavenly Father, I pray for my son that he will never forget that Your Son, Jesus, who was born to save us from sin and eternal death, is the reason why we are celebrating the season of Christmas.

What are some Christmas prayers?

There are so many things that you can pray for during the season of Christmas, but one common thing that you can pray for is that all your actions are hinged on Christ. As mentioned above, Christ is the essence of Christmas. Without Christ, we just end up praying shallowly. One of the things you can pray to God is a prayer of thanksgiving. More than the food that you have and the graces and blessings that God gave you throughout the year, it is Christ being born that we should thank God for. It is what Christmas is all about. If not for Christ being born, then we would not be saved. With that, you can pray for your son that thanksgiving shall abound in him as you celebrate Christmas. Here is one of the ways you can pray for thanksgiving to abound in your son:

Father in heaven, I pray that thanksgiving and gratitude towards You shall overflow in the heart of my son as he celebrates the season of Christmas. I pray Father that he shall thank You and glorify You for Your amazing and wondrous work of saving us by sending Your Son, born of a virgin in a manger. Jesus died on the cross for our sins. May his heart always be filled with praise and thanksgiving towards You this Christmas. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Heavenly Father, I pray for my son that he will never forget that Your Son, Jesus, who was born to save us from sin and eternal death, is the reason why we are celebrating the season of Christmas.

Another thing that you can pray for your son is to always remember that Christ is the reason for the season. Sometimes people may become obsessed or preoccupied with many things during Christmas. Things like decorating, what food to eat on Christmas Eve, where to celebrate, and so much more. Most people fail to see that Christmas is not about decorations, Christmas trees, lights, and other things we usually do or use during Christmas. It is about celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. As long as we keep that in mind, even if we are only eating simple foods and do not have many gifts, we are still celebrating Christmas. You can pray this prayer for your son for him to always remember that Christmas is about Christ:

Heavenly Father, I pray that my son shall always remember that Christmas is about the Good News that Jesus was born, who is the Savior of mankind. It is never about carols, trees, lights, decoration, traditions, and other things. I pray that he shall not be preoccupied with trivial things, but instead enjoy the season of Christmas by thanking You and thinking about Christ and how the fact that Christ was born changes his life. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Heavenly Father, I pray for my son that he will never forget that Your Son, Jesus, who was born to save us from sin and eternal death, is the reason why we are celebrating the season of Christmas.

A Christmas Prayer for My Son

If your son is not a Christian yet, then the most important thing for you to pray for is for him to truly know why Jesus has been born, which is why we are celebrating Christmas. You can pray this prayer for your son to know the real reason behind Christmas:

Father in heaven, as we celebrate Christmas, I pray that my son will not just celebrate Christmas because it is this time of year and our annual tradition. Instead, I pray that he will get to know the real meaning behind Christmas. Work in his heart Holy Spirit and open His spiritual eyes so that he may see Christ, who is the essence of Christmas, and understand that He was born so that He could save mankind from sin by living the life we should have lived, dying the death we should have died, and on the third day rising again. I pray that he will receive Christ, the greatest gift anyone could receive from God. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

What does the scripture say about Christmas?

Of course, there are no verses that specifically mention the word “Christmas”. However, any verse that talks about Jesus being born and coming to this world is a verse about Christmas. As written above, Christ is the reason for Christmas. With that said, one of the Bible verses that you and your family can meditate on during Christmas or share with your son if he is not yet a Christian is from Isaiah 9:6, where it is written:

Isaiah 9:6

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Another verse is from Matthew 1:23 and Isaiah 7:14:

Isaiah 7:14

Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Matthew 1:23

Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

When the Bible mentions “Emmanuel”, it means “God with us”. That is the reason why Christmas is a joyous season to celebrate, because we celebrate the fact that Jesus, who is God incarnate, came down to earth to dwell with His people. Because of Israel’s sinfulness and mankind as a whole, humanity is separate from God. But God dwelt among His people in the person of Jesus Christ, and not only did He dwell with them, but He saved humanity by dying for us on the cross so that we may be reconciled with the Father. It is written in John 1:14:

John 1:14

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Heavenly Father, I pray for my son that he will never forget that Your Son, Jesus, who was born to save us from sin and eternal death, is the reason why we are celebrating the season of Christmas.

A Christmas Prayer for My Son

These are some of the Bible verses that you and your family can meditate on when doing your Christmas devotionals or you may share them with your son, whether he is a Christian or not. In line with the verses that we have above, you can pray those verses for your son in this manner:

Lord Jesus, I pray for my son that he will get to see the magnificent and gracious work of the Father by sending You and dwelling with your people. I pray that the fact that You are “Emmanuel”, which is “God with us”, will resonate in the heart of my son. May my son see the glory of the good news that a Savior has been born and that he shall look at You as his Wonderful Counselor and Prince of Peace. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Heavenly Father, I pray for my son that he will never forget that Your Son, Jesus, who was born to save us from sin and eternal death, is the reason why we are celebrating the season of Christmas.

A Christmas Prayer for My Son

When you pray for your son during Christmas, always make sure that Christ is part of your prayer because Christmas is about Christ. We enjoy Christmas more and abound more in thanksgiving and gratitude when we fix our eyes and remind ourselves of Jesus. He is the reason for the season.
