A Daily Prayer of Surrender

Jesus Christ said that to be His follower we must carry our cross daily and deny ourselves every day. This command isn’t a simple task, especially when you must die to yourself daily—die to your ego, opinions, feelings, and anything that exalts the “self” more than God and His Word. The only way to walk powerfully and victoriously against the flesh is to live a life of surrender to the Lord Jesus Christ. So, what can be a daily prayer of surrender? You can pray in this manner:

Heavenly Father, thank You for another day that You have given me. As I start to do all my tasks for today, I know I have the victory of Jesus Christ. I reign together with the Holy Spirit no matter the challenges I may face today. I surrender this day to You, and my life is in Your hands. I trust in You completely, and I receive Your perfect peace and joy in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Heavenly Father, thank You for another day that You have given me.

A Daily Prayer of Surrender

To walk in a daily lifestyle of surrender, you must fill your mind with the Word of God and the things of God. It can be difficult to surrender to God when your mind is constantly filled with worldly possessions, ideologies, and matters, as these affect your beliefs, principles, and perceptions in life. The Word of God has to be your number one priority and guideline for your faith walk. Romans 10:17 says that faith only comes by hearing the Word of God. Your faith in Him is strengthened by filling your mind with the Word of God, and when You know His Word and His promises, then you can fully surrender your life to Him.

How do I completely surrender to God?

Heavenly Father, thank You for another day that You have given me.

A Daily Prayer of Surrender

Surrendering to God isn’t a one-time event. It is a daily lifestyle that allows you to be in a place of continual trust and hope in the Lord in all life situations. To completely surrender to God means to fully put your hopes and trust in Him, especially when things don’t go as you have planned. For instance, you may have been expecting a certain breakthrough during a specific month, but it didn’t happen. To completely surrender to God means continuously trusting in Him even when things don’t go your way. Sometimes, God has better plans, and His timing is far more perfect than our imagination and understanding of things. Proverbs 3:5 says, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”

Heavenly Father, thank You for another day that You have given me.

A Daily Prayer of Surrender

Jesus Christ is the best example of a lifestyle surrendered to the Father for Christians to follow. He always told His disciples that the Son could do nothing without the Father, and in everything he does, he simply sees the Father doing (see John 5:19). He also obeyed God and walked the prophecy even unto suffering and death on the cross. Jesus could do so because He lived a lifestyle of surrender and complete trust in the Father. He knew that everything would be worth it because the Father is faithful in all His promises.

Like Jesus, we can walk a lifestyle of surrender and self-abandonment when we place our lives completely in the hands of our good Heavenly Father. Whether in sickness or health, in life and death, we won’t be afraid of anything because we have entrusted our lives with the One Who created all. And we know that God is faithful, and He never fails.

What does surrender mean to God?

Heavenly Father, thank You for another day that You have given me.

A Daily Prayer of Surrender

Surrender can mean many things to God. It can mean self-sacrifice, unconditional love, obedience to the Father, and walking in the victory of Christ. Here on earth, when you engage in war and surrender, it means defeat. But in the Kingdom of God, you engage in the kind of spiritual battle where at the very moment you surrender yourself to God, you have won the situation. Surrender is a beautiful act of worship and total trust in God. It is the highest form of self-abandonment for the Holy Spirit to take over your life. When you give up your life for the sake of Christ, you have truly found the right way to a life worth living (see Luke 17:33).

Living a lifestyle of surrendering to God pleases Him because it reveals our faith and complete trust in Him. Can you imagine raising a child, and this child seems not to trust you at all despite doing your best to provide him with everything he needs in utmost love, care, and affection? It’s the same thing with our Heavenly Father. When His children trust in Him and take refuge in Him, it pleases Him, and He blesses our hearts like any parent would for a child.

God is faithful in everything, and He is true to His Word. You can always count on Him on good days and bad days. You can fully entrust yourself unto Him daily as you live a surrendered life in Christ Jesus.
