A Child’s Prayer to Thank God for a Safe Trip

Children are blessed when parents teach them to pray and communicate with God at a very early age. When they reach the age of understanding, God’s wisdom begins to come upon the child’s life, as parents and teachers lead them closer to the LORD—to the knowledge of His truths and His Word. You can teach them to be thankful to God for all things in their lives, and they will develop a heart of gratitude even for the smallest of things, such as when God protects them during a trip, ensuring they come home to their loved ones safe and sound. So how can you teach a child to be thankful to God for safe travels? You can teach them to pray like this:

Dear God, thank You for guiding me home safe and sound. Thank You for sending me Your angels to protect and keep me while I was away from home and for taking care of my family during my journey, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Dear God, thank You for guiding me home safe and sound.

Through this prayer, you can shape your child’s perception of God and what kind of Person He is. Through this prayer, a child learns that God is a protector of homes and families, that He has supernatural beings like angels to assist and help people in their dealings on earth, and most of all, children learn that they can come to God and talk to Him anytime, just like a friend!

How do you thank God for safety?

To teach your children to thank God for their safety, for waking up, for provisions, for specific blessings, and for all other things is a sure way to set your child on the right path (see Proverbs 22:6). Your child will not depart from those teachings as they grow older. During one’s childhood years, foundational truths and faith are carefully built in a person’s life, and when people grow up, they never forget what their childhood was like. To have someone like you, who is willing to teach your child about God and how he/she should pray, is a truly blessed thing. As you make it a goal for your children to be prayerful in all things, you are investing in God’s greater and powerful moves in the future, which will change and impact entire generations through their lives.

As you look for ways to thank God for safety, remember that you can teach your children to directly communicate and thank God as they would thank a friend for whatever reason. The more you teach your child to be thankful, even in the smallest of things, the more his or her eyes will be opened to the wonderful things God is doing. Here are some things for which they can be thankful to God, aside from their safety:

  1. You can be thankful to God for the food on your table.
  2. You can be thankful to God for your parents’ and siblings’ lives.
  3. You can be thankful to God for His love and kindness.
  4. You can be thankful to God for sending Jesus Christ to the world.
  5. You can be thankful for Jesus for what He has done on the cross.
  6. You can be thankful to God for waking you up today.
  7. You can be thankful to God for being able to understand and know who He is.
  8. You can be thankful to God for the lives of your friends.
  9. You can be thankful to God for your pets.
  10. You can be thankful to God for being in good health.
  11. You can be thankful to God for being alive.
  12. You can be thankful to God for the material blessings.
  13. You can be thankful to God for having a family.
  14. You can be thankful to God for your teachers at school.
  15. You can be thankful to God for being close to you and always ready to hear you.
  16. You can be thankful to God for sending His angels to help you in every way.
  17. You can be thankful to God for watching over your house while you are away.
  18. You can be thankful to God for birthdays, Christmas, the New Year, and more.
  19. You can be thankful to God for surrounding you with good people.
  20. You can be thankful to God for the wonderful earth, for the trees, for the skies, and for the seas.

The list goes on and on, as there are countless things you can teach your child to be thankful for. May the Holy Spirit also anoint you and open your eyes to the wonderful things God is doing, even in the smallest of things, so that you may impart unto children a thankful heart for the rest of their lives.

What is a prayer of thanks for Kids?

Teaching your children to be thankful for everything will shape how they feel and perceive life; someday, they will thank you and be grateful for the perspective. A prayer of gratitude causes every negativity to dissipate, as it elevates the will of God in all seasons and all circumstances (see 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18). Being thankful is powerful for opening blind eyes and deaf ears to hear. Thankfulness opens up your senses to the truths of God and all that He is. When you teach your children a lifestyle of thanksgiving, they become powerful children of the Most High. Just like Jesus Christ, before He raised Lazarus from the dead, He prayed to God saying, “…Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I know that thou hearest me always…” (John 11:41-42).

Thankfulness is a powerful thing. It raises dead things to return to life, so when you teach your child a prayer of thanks, simply begin by letting them thank God for who He is, for all that He has done, and for whatever else the Holy Spirit put in remembrance to thank God for. Here is a simple prayer of thanks for children:

Dear Father, thank You for always hearing my prayers. I am happy to know that You are listening to my prayers, and will answer them. Thank you for making me alive today so that I can spend time with my mommy and daddy. I ask that You bless us in every way, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Dear God, thank You for guiding me home safe and sound.
