A Child’s Prayer About Kindness

Kindness is something that we should learn as children. We should never be rude or disrespectful to others, but instead, we should always show kindness. Whenever someone is in need of help, and we have the ability to help, showing kindness means helping those who need it. Showing kindness to others blesses those people. 

What does the Bible say about kindness?

As children of God, we must be kind to other people. Jesus commanded that if we love God, then we must love other people. The people in the church are our brothers and sisters in Christ. That is why we must love them as our brothers and sisters. That means we have to be kind, compassionate, and tender-hearted towards them. The Bible also tells us to love our neighbors or other people who are not members of the church. That is why we also must be kind and compassionate towards them. However, you have to exercise wisdom and be careful when helping strangers, as some strangers may want to take advantage of your kindness to do you harm. Aside from that, be kind even to those people whom you don’t know. If you see an old lady who needs help carrying something, by all means, show kindness and help her!

How do you pray for kindness?

When you pray for kindness, you must ask God for His grace to help you constantly be kind to other people. You can also pray for your heart, that it shall always be tender, as well as full of compassion, love, and kindness. That is only possible by God’s grace and the Holy Spirit who helps us in all things.

Gentleness, just like kindness, is the fruit of the Holy Spirit that is produced in us. When we show kindness towards someone who needs help, we also show gentleness towards them. It is important to take note that gentleness does not mean tolerating what is considered a sin in the eyes of God.

Galatians 5:22-23

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

You can say this prayer as you pray for gentleness:

Heavenly Father, give me the grace and help me be gentle in all of my ways as I interact with other people. I pray that people will find comfort with the gentleness that I show them. Give me the grace to also know when to be gentle and when to stand firm, especially if the situation is something evil in your sight. If I see someone who has done something wrong, help me correct that person in the spirit of gentleness. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Galatians 6:1

Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.

If we are children of God, then we ought to show that we are His children through our character and the way we live our lives. The Bible says that as God’s chosen ones, we must put on compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience (Colossians 3:12). We are kind to others because we are children of God. Our goal in life as God’s children is to grow more in holiness and become more like Jesus. If we want to become more like Jesus, we must show others kindness, just as Jesus did.
