Bible Verses About Helping Others

The Bible is full of verses that can help us know what God says about helping others. These verses can provide guidance and encouragement as we strive to live out our faith in practical ways. As we seek to follow Jesus’ example, we can use these verses to remind us of the importance of serving others; they can encourage us to think about how we can best help those in need (Acts 20:35).

I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

Bible Verses About Helping Others

Though being full of love while helping others is a good thing, it should not be done blindly. Mark 12:31 says that we should be willing to help others in the same way that we would want to be helped. We should not only look out for our own interests but also tend to the interests of others.

The Scriptures teach us that we are to help others, but we are also to be wise in how we help.

One great Bible verse that reminds us of this is Proverbs 14:31, which states that if we are going to help others, then we need to do so in a way that honors God. We should not be motivated by a desire to gain something for ourselves, but instead, we should be driven by a desire to see others come to know and love God (Colossians 3:17). Below are some verses about showing love to others:

I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

Bible Verses About Helping Others

2 Thessalonians 3:10-12 teaches us that if someone is not willing to work, then they should not be given food. This is because those who are not working are not helping to support themselves or others. We should help those who are truly in need, but we should also be wise in how we help.

1 John 3:17-18 encourages us that if we have the opportunity to help someone in need, then we should do so. Helping others brings honor to our Father, Who has called us.

Proverbs 19:17 is a well-known verse that informs us that whoever is being kind to the needy lends to the Lord, and He will pay them back for their good deed. Kindness always yields good results.

There is a great verse from 1 Timothy 6:18. He advises us to do good, be rich in good deeds, and be generous and willing to share. When we help others, we should do so generously, as it is an evident sign that we are rich in our faith.

2 Corinthians 9:7 shows the importance of a cheerful giver. When we give to others, we should do so with a joyful heart, knowing that we are helping those in need and glorifying God at the same time.

A passage from Galatians 6:2 instructs us to bear one another’s burdens because in doing so, we will fulfill Christ’s law. We are called to help those who are struggling, and as we do so, we will be helping to carry their burdens. This is not easy, but it is what Christ calls us to do.

Hebrews 13:16 is a great reminder for us to do good and to share with others, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God. When we help others, we are doing what is pleasing to God, and He will be glorified. Our priority is to seek God’s glory, not our own.

1 Peter 4:10-11 gives us advice that each of us should use our gifts coming from God to serve others. We all have unique gifts and talents that we can use to help others. Use these gifts to serve those in need and glorify God.

One of the commands of Jesus to us is found in John 15:12-13, which expresses that we are to love one another as He has loved us. This is a very high standard, but it is one that we are called to strive for. As we seek to love others, we must remember how much Jesus loves us and let that motivate us to love others in return.

Matthew 5:42 requires us to give to the one who asks of us, and this is something that we should do willingly and without expecting anything in return. Do generously when helping others without expecting anything in return for your acts of kindness.

One verse, Acts 20:35, speaks of how it is more blessed to give than to receive. This is a reminder for us that when we help others, we are doing something that is more blessed than if we were the ones receiving help. Blessing comes from helping others, and we should keep this in mind when we are tempted to only think of ourselves.

Proverbs 3:27-28 tells us not to withhold good from those who need it when we have the ability to help them. People who are in need should be our priority, and we should help them if we are able to do so.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 gives us information that it is better to have two people working together than for one person to be all alone. We were not meant to live our lives alone, and we should help others when we can. When we work together, we can accomplish more than we could ever accomplish on our own.

Proverbs 22:9 calls to our attention that generous people will be blessed for sharing their resources with others. When we help others, we are being generous, and we will be blessed for it. Our Lord God Almighty is a generous God, and He also blesses those who are generous.

Proverbs 31:20 explains that we should speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves. This includes helping those who are in need. We should be their advocates and help them in any way that we can.

I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

Bible Verses About Helping Others

Another verse is Galatians 6:10, which says, “So then, as we have the opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.” We should help others, but we should also be mindful of those who are part of our own faith community. We can best help them by being there for them and supporting them in their faith journey (Philippians 2:4).

These are just a few of the many verses in the Bible that talk about helping others. As Christians, we are called to help those in need, whether they are part of our faith community or not. We should do so cheerfully and lovingly, knowing that we are doing what pleases God (Colossians 3:23). As we help others, we can be sure that God will bless us for our efforts (1 Corinthians 15:58).

I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.
