A Child’s Prayer for Fathers Day

Praying for your father on Father’s Day is one of the things you could do to honor him and show your appreciation for him on his special day. Fathers carry a heavy burden and have a big responsibility. It is their role to work to provide for their families, protect them from any harm, be a good example as the spiritual head or leader in their families, seek the best welfare for their families, and more. Being a father is not easy. Hence, a prayer would mean a lot to him (Colossians 3:21), (Ephesians 5:25-37), (1 Timothy 3:2-5), (Psalm 103:13), (Proverbs 22:6).

One of the things you can pray to God about your father is thanking Him for his life. Here is one simple prayer you can pray as you thank God for the life of your father:

Father in heaven, I thank You for blessing me with my father’s life. He has always been working hard to provide for our family’s needs. He is also there to always protect us and take good care of us. Whenever I need guidance, he is there to lead me and impart his wisdom to me. Always give me the grace to honor, love, and respect my father and be a good son/daughter to him. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Father in heaven, I thank You for blessing me with my father's life. He has always been working hard to provide for our family's needs.

If your father is not yet a Christian, then the most important thing that you can pray for is his salvation. Here is one of the ways you can pray for this:

Heavenly Father, I pray for an opportunity to preach the Gospel to my father. Give me the boldness and the courage to proclaim Christ to him. I also pray, Holy Spirit, that You would soften his heart and open his spiritual eyes so that he may see the truth of the Gospel, receive it, and live a repentant life following Christ. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Father in heaven, I thank You for blessing me with my father's life. He has always been working hard to provide for our family's needs.

What is a good Bible verse for Father’s Day?

The Bible does not specifically talk about Father’s Day. However, it tells us how we should treat our fathers, and that is to honor them. We also ought to be wise sons or daughters by listening to our fathers’ instructions because they are for our good (assuming that the father is a Christian).

Exodus 20:12

Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

Father in heaven, I thank You for blessing me with my father's life. He has always been working hard to provide for our family's needs.

Proverbs 23:22

Hearken unto thy father that begat thee, and despise not thy mother when she is old.

Father in heaven, I thank You for blessing me with my father's life. He has always been working hard to provide for our family's needs.

Proverbs 23:24

The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him.

Father in heaven, I thank You for blessing me with my father's life. He has always been working hard to provide for our family's needs.

Colossians 3:20

Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.

Father in heaven, I thank You for blessing me with my father's life. He has always been working hard to provide for our family's needs.

The Bible verses you can give to your father during Father’s Day do not necessarily have to be about fatherhood or fathers. You can offer Bible verses that bring encouragement. Here are some of them:

Proverbs 3:5-8

5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.

8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

Hebrews 12:1-2

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

2 Corinthians 4:17-18

17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Psalm 23:1-3

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

James 1:2-4

2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;

3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

If your Father is not a Christian, then you can give him some Bible verses that talk about eternal life in Christ:

Romans 3:23

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Father in heaven, I thank You for blessing me with my father's life. He has always been working hard to provide for our family's needs.

A Child’s Prayer for Father’s Day

Romans 6:23

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Father in heaven, I thank You for blessing me with my father's life. He has always been working hard to provide for our family's needs.

A Child’s Prayer for Father’s Day

Ephesians 2:1-10

And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Titus 3:5

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

As you pray for your father on his special day, make sure to show your love and appreciation to him and tell him how much you love him and appreciate everything that he has been doing for you and your family. Always pray for him, even if it is not Father’s Day. If he is not a Christian, you can reach out to him by how you honor him and love him, reflecting Jesus to him.

Father in heaven, I thank You for blessing me with my father's life. He has always been working hard to provide for our family's needs.
