A Christmas Prayer of Peace

Christmas is all about the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. There is no Christmas to celebrate without Christ because Christmas is all about Him, not about the Christmas tree, decorations, snowmen, and other festive things. We celebrate Christ’s birth because Christ, the Messiah, was born to save us all from sin by dying on the cross. But He didn’t stay dead. He resurrected from the dead to prove that He is indeed the Son of God. Christ’s birth implies so many things that are worth celebrating. One of them is that we now have hope, because our hope is Christ. We also know that the birth of Christ means freedom—freedom from the slavery of sin. Another is the peace that Christ restored when He came down to earth to save humanity.

Knowing that the birth of Christ has so many implications that we should celebrate, here is a Christmas prayer of peace you can pray:

Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your mercy, grace, and love, through which You sent Your Son Jesus to save us from sin. We thank You because as we celebrate Christmas, we celebrate that hope has come to us in the person of Christ. We also celebrate our liberation, knowing that Christ has freed us from the bondage of sin through His work on the cross and that by grace, we can now live an upright and holy life. We also celebrate the peace that Christ has restored. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your mercy, grace, and love, through which You sent Your Son Jesus to save us from sin.

A Christmas Prayer for Peace

Is Christmas about peace?

Christmas is about God coming down to earth in the person of Jesus Christ, who was born of a virgin. He dwelt among His people, lived the sinless life we should have lived, died the death we should have died, and then rose from the dead after three days. In other words, Christmas is all about our salvation. That is why we celebrate it, because it is the birth of our Savior. If Jesus was not born, who would have saved us? Our salvation has a close relationship to peace.

Christmas has a good correlation with Peace because of Jesus Christ. Jesus is the Prince of peace and His birth, death and resurrection brings peace to us as believers. Peace can only be found in God and when we have Holy Spirit living in us we have the peace of God abiding in us as well. This is the good needs we get to celebrate this day.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your mercy, grace, and love, through which You sent Your Son Jesus to save us from sin.

A Christmas Prayer for Peace

No amount of good work can bring peace between the relationship of God and man. Because man has sinned and because God is just and holy, man is doomed to be justly punished for his sins. That is where the good news comes in, which is why a Christian who truly understands the Gospel and its implications will celebrate the birth of Christ.

Because of what Jesus has done on the cross for us, by dying the death we should have died essentially paying the penalty of our sin instead of us paying it. Christ has fully satisfied God’s wrath because our sin has already been paid in full. Because of that, anyone who repents and believes in the person and work of Christ can be saved if they place their faith in the finished work of Christ, knowing that He has paid for their sins. Because of Christ, not only did He fully pay our debt because of sin, but He also imputed His righteousness on us who believe in Him, so that when the Father looks at us, He does not see our imperfections, but rather the perfection and righteousness of Christ. It is not our righteousness we should place our faith in, but the righteousness of Christ.

Colossians 2:13-14

13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

Romans 5:8

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your mercy, grace, and love, through which You sent Your Son Jesus to save us from sin.

1 Peter 2:24-25

24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

2 Corinthians 5:21

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your mercy, grace, and love, through which You sent Your Son Jesus to save us from sin.

A Christmas Prayer for Peace

Because of what Jesus did, our relationship has now been restored with God. The real meaning of peace from the word “shalom” is completeness or wholeness. In the New Testament, the word “peace” is called “eirene”, which is why the Bible tells us that Christ is our “eirene”. Christ brought wholeness or completeness to what was once a broken relationship with the Father and has brought peace between God and man when He paid for the debt of sin.

Ephesians 2:14-17

14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.

Romans 5:1-5

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;

4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:

5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

Isaiah 53:5

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your mercy, grace, and love, through which You sent Your Son Jesus to save us from sin.

A Christmas Prayer for Peace

The Bible says that in Christ who has brought peace to us with God, we are no longer strangers and aliens to God. We also become fellow citizens with the other saints and members of the household of God. Not just that, Christ’s work has resulted in our adoption as God’s children. It is not just a ceasefire kind of peace, but an eternal peace where we can be with the Father.

Knowing that Christ restored your peace with God and that He is your peace, it is only fitting to thank and praise Him for what He has done for you. Here is how you can thank and praise Jesus through a prayer:

Lord Jesus, I thank You for coming down here to earth to live the life I should have lived, die the death I should have died, and conquer death by resurrecting from the grave. Thank You, Jesus, because I have peace with God through You by satisfying God’s wrath on the cross. Through You, I didn’t only achieve peace with God, but was also adopted as His child. In Your name, I pray. Amen.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your mercy, grace, and love, through which You sent Your Son Jesus to save us from sin.

A Christmas Prayer for Peace

What is a good Christmas prayer?

Aside from thanking Jesus for restoring peace between you and God as you celebrate Christmas, you can also thank Jesus for giving you His peace. Because You are now in Christ, in Him, you receive grace upon grace. Even though you might encounter tribulations in your life, you have grace in Christ to keep on persevering. Also, being in Christ means you have a transformed heart that loves God and desires godly desires. It is written in Romans 6:18-20 and Romans 8:28:

Romans 6:18-20

18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.

20 For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.

Romans 8:28

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your mercy, grace, and love, through which You sent Your Son Jesus to save us from sin.

A Christmas Prayer for Peace

You have peace with whatever circumstance you are in because even if you are in the midst of a storm, you know that everything works together for the ultimate good. Just as the seas and storms obey Christ, everything else in your life is also under the sovereign rule of Christ.

You can pray this prayer for peace as you go through storms in life:

Father in heaven, I thank You because I don’t have to be afraid as I go through storms in life. I know that whatever circumstance I am in, everything works together for my good, even in this season of hardship. Thank You, Father, because Christ has given me His peace. Whenever I encounter tribulations, I can take heart because He has overcome the world. In Christ, I have the grace to always persevere whatever challenges I face in life. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your mercy, grace, and love, through which You sent Your Son Jesus to save us from sin.

A Christmas Prayer for Peace

Another thing you can thank Jesus for in the season of Christmas is the restoration that He has brought into your life. As mentioned before, Christ is our peace and has brought us peace. This peace means restoration, wholeness, or completeness. In other words, Christ has brought restoration, wholeness, or completeness to you. Below is a prayer you can pray as you thank Christ for the gift of restoration, wholeness, and completeness He delivered.

Lord Jesus, I thank You for bringing restoration upon my life. I thank You because You have made me whole again after being broken. Because of my sin, I was separated from the Father, but because of Your work on the cross, my relationship and standing with the Father are now restored. Thank You for bringing me wholeness in me. Even without the love and affirmation of others, I am whole and complete because I have You as my living water, for which I will never thirst. In You, I am loved by the Father as His child. In Your name, I pray. Amen.

The birth of Christ means the birth of peace between God and man. That is why the Bible says that through Christ, we have peace with God through faith. No amount of good works can achieve peace with God. Peace is only available through the finished work of Christ on the cross. That is why Christmas is such a joyous season to celebrate!
