A Heartfelt, Sincere Prayer Thanking Jesus

Living a daily lifestyle of gratitude to Christ is a powerful way to live as a Christian. When you walk in thankfulness, even for the smallest things, you glorify God through your life because it is His perfect will for His people to be thankful in all circumstances. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 says, “In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”

As you are here looking for a heartfelt, sincere prayer thanking Jesus, know that such a heart truly moves Heavenly Father. Here is a prayer:

Dear Jesus, thank You for blessing me with life today. As I breathe in and out of my lungs, thank You for the breath of life I have in the Spirit. I am grateful that I can live each day in freedom and peace in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Dear Jesus, thank You for blessing me with life today.

Thankfulness matters to God. As Christians, we must make an effort to communicate and express our thankfulness in prayer; not just to God but to everyone who touches our lives as well.

In the Gospel, Jesus Christ healed ten lepers. Among the ten who were healed on the way to the temple, only one made an effort to return to Jesus and thank Him for healing. And this is what Jesus told the one leper:

“And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger. And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole” (Luke 17:17-19).

Dear Jesus, thank You for blessing me with life today.

Not only was the leper healed, but he was also made whole in Christ Jesus. Gratitude can bring wholeness into our lives, and it glorifies God when we thank Him and those who deserve our gratitude. This can mean your spouse, children, parents, pastor, ministry workers, employer, employee, teacher, co-workers, etc.

May your words of gratitude bless those through whom God speaks into your heart today. And as you practice these words daily, may your light shine evermore and bring God all the glory through your words and deeds.

“Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.” – Proverbs 16:24

Dear Jesus, thank You for blessing me with life today.

What are ways to show Jesus I am thankful for Him?

Nothing makes Jesus happier than a heartfelt, sincere prayer of thanks unto God from His beloved. It shows we acknowledge His doings and appreciate what He does for us. As mentioned earlier, gratitude is God’s perfect will. And when we walk in God’s will, it shows we genuinely love Him and are thankful to Him.

Besides praying to Jesus, there are other ways to show Him you are thankful for Him:

1. Loving His Word and studying it

Psalm 119:97

“O, how love I thy law! It is my meditation all the day.”

Dear Jesus, thank You for blessing me with life today.

Being thankful to Jesus and loving Him means loving and studying His Word because the Scripture is God-breathed. It is His written will for mankind to follow so we can walk victoriously in Christ even while we are still here on earth.

2. Obeying His Word and putting it into practice

John 14:15

“If ye love me, keep my commandments.”

Dear Jesus, thank You for blessing me with life today.

Nothing can make a parent prouder and happier more than when their child listens to and obeys their commands. Parents set rules, principles, and values for their children’s welfare and well-being because of love. Similarly, through Christ Jesus, God gave us commandments to follow for our own good, safety, and prosperity as His children.

3. Sharing the Gospel

Matthew 28:19-20

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

A life truly touched and changed by Jesus Christ demonstrates an overflow of God’s goodness and proclaims the Good News of Christ to those who are lost and in need of saving. You can’t help but share the Gospel and make many more lovers of Jesus Christ because you are grateful for what He has done. He deserves our worship, love, adoration, and thanksgiving.

4. Serving His people

1 Peter 4:10-11

“As every man hath received the gift, even so, minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If any man speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.”

Dear Jesus, thank You for blessing me with life today.

Jesus Christ said that He did not come to be served but to serve (see Matthew 20:28). And as His true lovers and followers, we want to do the same for other people. That is why God blessed us with spiritual gifts and natural talents—so we may use them to serve others and glorify His name. When we do this, it shows our sincere thankfulness to Jesus.

5. Loving His people and the Body of Christ

John 13:35

“By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”

Dear Jesus, thank You for blessing me with life today.

When we truly appreciate Jesus and are thankful for all His doings, we will love what He loves and hates what He hates. And we know how much He loves the Church, His Bride. When we love our brothers and sisters in Christ, it also shows our true love for God and that we are thankful that Jesus Christ also loves us in the same manner.

6. Doing His will

Matthew 7:21

“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.”

Dear Jesus, thank You for blessing me with life today.

Doing the will of God shows our sincere desire to be in the presence of God. A life that has been truly touched by Christ will desperately want to do His will no matter how hard the road gets or what temptations this world is offering. You want to keep doing God’s will because He alone can bring satisfaction to your life.

7. Loving Heavenly things more than worldly things

Psalm 63:3

“Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.”

Dear Jesus, thank You for blessing me with life today.

Our affections show the true treasures of our hearts. When we love heavenly things, the Word of God, godly fellowships and services, worship and prayer, and the presence of God, it shows how much impact God has made in our lives and that we are indeed grateful for all His doings. That is why we love Him and all heavenly things more than the temporary things of this world.

How can I be thankful to Jesus when I don’t feel like it?

It isn’t uncommon to have good and bad days, not even for Christians in the race of faith. We will all face different struggles, challenges, trials, and pain from time to time, which sometimes affect our perception and emotions, such as talking to people, being affectionate, having a listening ear, and being grateful.

God knows every detail of our lives. Psalm 139:1-4 says, “O lord, thou hast searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether.” The Lord knows why we sometimes don’t feel like praying, talking to Him, thanking Him, or worshiping Him. He knows the complexity of our lives, and He relates to our day-to-day struggles, pain, and challenges. That is why it is important to keep His Word close to our hearts and minds at all times—to meditate on His Word day and night because God’s Word is a sword of the Spirit, able to expose and thwart all weapons of lies of the devil. It is also by hearing the Word of God constantly that our faith is empowered. “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17). And the moment you have faith, you can be thankful to Jesus again and again because God’s Word reminds you of the things He has done and why there is a great reason to be thankful for each day.

Whenever you feel like you are not thankful for the day or your heart isn’t overflowing with gratitude, get to the Word and meditate on the life of Jesus Christ, the promises of God, and the things He has done for mankind; you will overflow with gratitude and sincere prayers of thanks unto the Lord. And remember how Christ redeemed and saved you when you were lost and forsaken by this world.

May God bless your sincere heart as you seek Christ and love Him with all your heart, soul, and mind in Jesus’ name.
