Exams, no matter at what education level, can be nerve-wracking, especially if they are really important tests such as an admission test, board exam, bar exam, licensing exam, etc. Given the importance of those assessments, it is only fitting that we humble ourselves and depend on God at such important times in our lives.
Heavenly Father, as I face my exam/s, remind me to never rely on my own strength and capabilities but to rely and depend on You, Who is the source of all things, even the wisdom and strength that I need. Give me the grace that will motivate me to work harder. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

A Good Prayer for Exams
Prayer and Action
Indeed, as 1 Peter 5:6-7 tells us, we are to humble ourselves and cast our concerns or burdens onto God because He cares for us. This means we are to lift prayers to God regarding the exams that are ahead, whether that is for the wisdom, knowledge, and understanding of the topics of our exams or for the strength that we need to face them. But in the end, we still have to take action.
Indeed, there is nothing wrong with praying to God for your exam to go well and for you to be able to answer all the questions. However, that does not mean you don’t need to prepare just because you have already prayed and lifted it to God. For example, we can’t pray Philippians 4:13, saying that we can do all things through Christ Who strengthens us, and just go into our exams unprepared. While, indeed, there are aspects of depending on God as you take the exam itself – being calm, collected, able to remember what you study, and able to apply critical thinking – being able to do all things through Christ Who strengthens us also means being motivated to study, prepare, and diligently take action.
Christ strengthens us to do God’s will, which is, in this case, to be diligent and faithful with our studies and prepare to be tested (Proverbs 21:5; Proverbs 12:24 ). Prayer does not just remain prayer, but it also translates into action. In other words, God’s grace moves us to work all the harder (Philippians 2:13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.). When we remember that we now live our lives for Christ and that we work heartily for the LORD and not for men (Colossians 3:23-24), that will move our hearts and be the motivation that causes us to work harder, be diligent with our studies, and even strive for excellence that glorifies God (1 Corinthians 10:31 So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.).

A Good Prayer for Exams
Heavenly Father, give me the grace to be diligent, faithful, and disciplined in my studies. Help me never be driven to what I feel like doing instead of studying and doing the necessary tasks when needed. Remind me that my study this season is my act of worship for You and that I ought to be faithful in it. May the fact that my studying ought to be for Your glory motivate me to be excellent in it. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
Praying As You Prepare to Take an Exam
As you get ready for your exam, there are two stages for which you will want to pray. The first is when you are still preparing for your upcoming exam. Here, not only can you pray to be diligent as mentioned above, but you can also pray for other concerns that you may have in line with your preparations. Your concerns may be that you are having financial difficulties, emotional turmoil, sickness, or another circumstance that affects your preparation. You may lift anything up to God in prayer.
Heavenly Father, I am having difficulty preparing and studying for my exams due to the fever I’ve had for the past few days. I pray for healing and a revitalized body, Lord. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

The second stage comes just before you take the exam. Here, you pray to do well on the exam. It could be that it is a problem-solving test, so you need analytical thinking. It could be a history exam, so you’d need grace to remember the dates you have studied. Your needs are subjective and depend on the situation. Nonetheless, you can always ask God for the grace, wisdom, strength, and anything else you need to take the exam and excel at it.
Father in heaven, as I take the bar exam today, give me the grace and mercy to remember everything I have studied. Help me be discerning, identify the issues in the questions, and rightfully address them in my answer. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

A Good Prayer for Exams
An approaching exam may cause anxiety, but that is the essence of 1 Peter 5:6-7, that we are to cast our anxieties to God. As you face any test, do what’s in your power to do. Prepare, study, and be diligent, but ultimately rely on God’s grace and depend on God’s care. Pray to God regarding your exam as you prepare to take it, and thank Him as you are excelling at it.
