There are moments in life when we face the reality of our limitations and weaknesses, and at times, it causes us to feel frustrated or disappointed. However, such weaknesses should never be the cause of our despair. Even in times of weakness, we can be victorious in Christ. In (Romans 8:37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.), it is written that we are conquerors through Christ who loves us. Because of Christ, who empowers us and gives us the grace and strength we need, we can overcome the trials and tribulations we face amidst our weaknesses.
Lord Jesus, thank You because it is not through myself but through You that I can face life’s trials and difficulties. In Your name, I pray. Amen.

God’s Grace
The apostle Paul was no stranger to experiencing weakness in his life. In 2 Corinthians 12:7–10, he explains “…a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan.” Theologians have different views as to what that “thorn” was, whether it was a physical ailment or a spiritual-related challenge. However, regardless of the interpretation, it can be unanimously concluded that what Paul is describing is a kind of weakness. In this passage, the apostle Paul explains that in times of weakness, God’s grace is sufficient. This is a great encouragement for us who are frustrated, disappointed, and discouraged when faced with the reality of our weaknesses. It means that despite our weakness, God can still work through us. His grace is sufficient, and His power is made perfect in weaknesses. Therefore, when we are weak, we are made strong not because of our power but God’s.

The apostle Paul encourages us again in the famous (Philippians 4:13 can do all this through him who gives me strength. ), which says we can do all things through Christ, who strengthens us. When we say “all things,” it pertains to acts God wills for us. Therefore, no matter our weaknesses and difficulties, we can do God’s will and glorify Him through Christ, who strengthens us—whether that means working hard at our careers despite the challenges, having the boldness to preach the Gospel to our classmates, aiming to become good spouses despite our flaws, and so on.

A Prayer for Weakness
Heavenly Father, in times when I am faced with the reality of my weaknesses, remind me never to face them with my own strength or power but instead to move in grace and Your power. Thank You because Your grace is sufficient for me, and Your power is made perfect in weaknesses. Despite my weaknesses, I can persevere and do all things through Christ who strengthens me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Praying for Strength in Weakness
We can use the two spiritual truths we discussed above as our example when praying to God when we experience weakness. For example, let’s say you are a man who wishes to love your wife in a more Christlike way—but you are disappointed with your flaws and discouraged. In those times, running to your own strength would only prove futile. You should run to God for grace and the power you need. Remember, it is through Christ that we can do all things. It is through Christ that you can be an excellent husband despite your weaknesses. This applies to every situation in life; God can work through us despite our weaknesses.
Father in heaven, I am discouraged by my flaws and the mistakes I make as I pursue to love my wife better and be a godly husband. I want to make her feel loved, pursued, and valued, reflecting the character of Christ to her. I come to You, LORD, for the grace that I need. Your grace is sufficient for me as I pursue to be a better spouse. Your power is made perfect in my weaknesses. Despite my weaknesses, You can work through me. You can make me the kind of husband my wife will be blessed to have because of Your power at work in me. I can be a husband who reflects Christ to her through Christ who strengthens me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
The Bible teaches us that in Christ, we have the confidence to come before God’s throne of grace and ask Him for grace and mercy in times of need. In life’s moments of weakness, don’t despair. Instead, run to God’s throne of grace.
