How To Pray To Accept Jesus Christ

You are here because you have decided to say “yes” to Jesus and follow Christ. Accepting Jesus Christ in your life is going to be one of the best decisions you’ll ever make and one you will never regret. After all, He lives and continues to reveal Himself through the manifestation of His promises and His Word to those who believe. The whole of heaven rejoices, and God is throwing the biggest celebration as you come to receive His only Begotten Son, Jesus the Christ, into your life.

“I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.” Luke 15:7

To pray that you accept Jesus Christ in your life is to acknowledge Who He is as your Lord and Savior. Here is a prayer to accept Jesus Christ:

Lord Jesus, thank You for saving me, a sinner, and for giving Your life for my sake. You died and rose to life again to rescue me from the kingdom of darkness, cleanse me, and forgive me of my sins that I may be righteous and holy in the eyes of God. I surrender my life to You, and I am forever Yours. Amen.

Lord Jesus, thank You for saving me, a sinner, and for giving Your life for my sake.

How To Pray To Accept Jesus Christ

As you have accepted Jesus Christ in your life, the best next step that you can do to fully experience His presence and promises in the Word of God is to get into a Spirit-filled community of believers, join their fellowships, and undergo discipleship and mentoring so that your faith will grow rich in knowledge and understanding of the truths of God.

Romans 10:17 says, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

Your faith in Jesus Christ will persist and continue to deepen as you constantly hear the Word of God through the preaching, fellowship, and discipleship of church services. The more you get to know His Word, the more you will know Christ and understand His perfect will for your life and that of others.

Lord Jesus, thank You for saving me, a sinner, and for giving Your life for my sake.

How To Pray To Accept Jesus Christ

Accepting Jesus Christ into your life doesn’t end in an acceptance prayer but it is the beginning of a great relationship and journey that means I am ready to face persecution, rejection, trials, hardships, and, at the same time, the glory of God for the sake of Christ and the Gospel. You must be prepared not only for the blessing of having Christ in your life but even for the trials and challenges that are to come because we know that this world doesn’t know Jesus Christ, and those who truly follow Him are hated by this world.

Jesus Christ said in John 15:18-19, “If the world hates you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.”

That being said, you are now salt and light in this world (see Matthew 5:13-16), and no matter the challenges you may face as a Christian, let your light shine before men so that they may give glory to God for your good deeds.

Am I a Christian once I accept Jesus Christ?

Having accepted Jesus Christ with your whole heart as you pray marks the new beginning of your life as a believer.

You have not only become a Christian as you accept Christ but there’s more to the reality of receiving Him into your life. According to the Word of God, here are some truths about who you are in Christ aside from becoming a Christian:

1. You are now a new creation in Christ.

Lord Jesus, thank You for saving me, a sinner, and for giving Your life for my sake.

How To Pray To Accept Jesus Christ

2 Corinthians 5:17

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

Everything that you have done in your life that is apart from Christ is no longer valid. When people remind you of your past sins or accuse you of the things you did in the past, 2 Corinthians 5:17 says that old things have passed away. You are now a new creation in Christ Jesus, which allows you to start afresh with God, move forward, and step toward God’s holy and righteous living.

2. You are now a child of God.

Lord Jesus, thank You for saving me, a sinner, and for giving Your life for my sake.

How To Pray To Accept Jesus Christ

John 1:12

“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.”

You are not just an ordinary Christian but a child of the Most High God upon accepting and believing in Jesus Christ. You have heavenly riches and wealth that the Father prepared for you, and you shall witness His faithfulness and the manifestations of His promises as you believe in His Word.

3. You are now co-heirs with Christ.

Lord Jesus, thank You for saving me, a sinner, and for giving Your life for my sake.

How To Pray To Accept Jesus Christ

Romans 8:17

“And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.”

Being a joint heir with Christ means all that Christ has is yours—spiritually and materially. Whatever Jesus Christ has experienced here on earth, you will also share in those. Whatever Jesus has in heaven, you will also share those.

4. You are now seated with Christ in the heavenly realms.

Ephesians 2:5-6

“Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.”

Being seated with Christ in the heavenly realms means all things below Christ are also below you—sicknesses, pain, struggles, challenges, the works of the enemy, the works of the flesh, and so on. Being seated alongside Jesus Christ means His authority and power rest equally on your life too. In the name of Jesus, you are above those things mentioned.

5. You are now born-again in Spirit and Truth.

Lord Jesus, thank You for saving me, a sinner, and for giving Your life for my sake.

How To Pray To Accept Jesus Christ

John 3:3

“Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom.”

Being born again means rebirth as a new person, similar to being a new creation in Christ. And it isn’t just about your past sins. There is going to be a renewal and realignment of your ways, thoughts, principles, values, and perspectives concerning the Word of God—His perfect will. To be born again is to let go of the old in order to receive God’s new things for you in this faith walk, so you can enter the kingdom of God. Jesus said, “Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 18:3). You can learn so much from children as they are teachable and humble in heart.

6. You are now a spiritual warrior of God.

Ephesians 6:11-12

“Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

Accepting Jesus Christ means saying “no” to the devil. Basically, you have made such a bold declaration in the spiritual realm that the enemy has to take you out of the race of faith to get you back once again into satan’s lies, defeat, sin, and shame. However, the Word of God already warned the believers that we must put on God’s armor at all times so that when the enemy comes to attack, we are prepared and ready. That is why you must seek to join discipleship and mentoring programs, to get equipped and trained just like soldiers training for the war. It is difficult to just be a passive Christian when the enemy wants you back on its side. Make every effort to work out your salvation in Christ (see Philippians 2:12-13).

7. You are now an ambassador of Christ.

2 Corinthians 5:19-20

“To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.”

One of the best things about becoming a Christian is sharing the Good News of Christ with those who are lost and broken as you once were. And being an ambassador of Christ means you look at other people who don’t know Christ yet, according to who they truly are in Christ, with the intent of winning their hearts back to the Father and into the Kingdom of Light.

8. It is no longer about you but Christ who lives in you.

Lord Jesus, thank You for saving me, a sinner, and for giving Your life for my sake.

How To Pray To Accept Jesus Christ

Galatians 2:20

“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”

One of the glorious joys in the process of our salvation as believers is losing our life for Christ’s sake. This means losing our pride for the sake of the Gospel and doing things to control ourselves to glorify Christ. One such thing is taming the tongue and being deaf to the false accusations and persecutions of the ungodly because it is no longer about you but Christ who lives in you. When people say all kinds of negative things about you, your calling, and your faith in Christ, they are not doing it to you but to Christ Who is in you—the One Who loves you and is so proud of you for sharing His name and wonderful deeds.

9. You are now a disciple of Christ.

Lord Jesus, thank You for saving me, a sinner, and for giving Your life for my sake.

How To Pray To Accept Jesus Christ

John 14:12

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.”

As one who has truly accepted Christ, you naturally become His disciple as you study and meditate on the lifestyle of Jesus in the Gospel. He healed the sick, cast out demons, raised the dead, and performed various miracles for the glory of God and the advancement of His Kingdom. And Jesus said that you will do even greater works.

Being a Christian is more than what it seems. It is an exciting adventure with the Spirit of God as you partner with Him in bringing heaven on earth.

“Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven” Matthew 6:10
