Death is a reality that every human needs to face and accept. Every human body, no matter how good a condition it is in, will eventually decay. However, how one would receive death makes a substantial difference, whether a person is a Christian or not. For a person who does not know the LORD Jesus Christ, death is scary. They don’t know if there is an afterlife or what will happen to them. Worse, they don’t know that they will be eternally separated from God in hell (2 Thessalonians 1:9 They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might). However, if Christians live, they live for Christ; if they die, it is gain. It is gain because that means that we will be with Christ, having eternal life in Him (Philippians 1:21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.).
Father in heaven, I pray that everyone, especially those who are sick or constantly in danger because of the nature of their work, shall know Christ and be eternally secure in Him. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Praying for Healing
First, if a person is sick and dying, one of the things that you can pray for that person is healing. In James 5:16, it is written that the prayer of a righteous person has power and is effective. If you are in Christ, you are already seen as righteous in the eyes of God because Christ imputed righteousness upon you (2 Corinthians 5:21). The context of James 5:16 also includes praying for the healing of others. So, if you are in Christ, you are righteous in the eyes of God, so your prayer has power, and it works.
If someone is dying, do not lose hope. Pray by all means that the person shall be healed. Whatever the outcome of the prayer is, we are to trust the Lord, Who knows infinitely better than we do. We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God (Romans 8:28).
Praying for Their Salvation
More than praying for healing, praying for their salvation is the most important prayer that you can pray on behalf of someone who is dying. Even if they are healed, if they don’t end up knowing the Lord Jesus Christ and what He did for them, it is all pointless. They may be healthy physically but sick spiritually.
How can you pray for their salvation? You can do this by first praying that they will have the opportunity to hear the Gospel. They cannot believe in something if they haven’t first heard of it (Romans 10:14-15). If you already know someone who is dying, it is imperative for you as a Christian to urgently preach the Gospel to that person. Ask the Holy Spirit for boldness and strength (Acts 4:31 After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.).

Another thing that you can pray for someone who is dying is for God to turn their hearts of stone to hearts of flesh (Ezekiel 36:26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.) and also to open their spiritual eyes (2 Corinthians 4:6; John 9:25). They will only be able to see Christ and understand their need for Him if their spiritual eyes are opened and that their hearts are softened for the Gospel to take root. It is the work of God in their hearts, so preaching the Gospel to them relieves you of the burden because it is not you but God Who will change their hearts (Ephesians 2:1-9).

A Good Prayer for Someone Who Is Dying
Heavenly Father, I pray that You will open his eyes and make known to him Your mercies and graces in Christ. Illuminate to him that only in Christ can he find eternal life and security. Soften his heart and open his spiritual eyes to see the truth and the good news of the Gospel. Give me the boldness to preach the Gospel to him. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

A Good Prayer for Someone Who Is Dying
You may pray generally for those who are dying—that eventually they will hear the Gospel, believe it, repent from their life of sin, and follow Christ. By all means, pray that a particular believer near them would preach the good news to them. However, if you know the dying person, or you happen to be in a situation where a person is inevitably dying, such as in an accident, you have to preach the Gospel to them. The good thing is that as you do, you do so not by your own strength but through Christ, Who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.).
