A Family’s Prayer

It is the will of God to bless every family on earth. It is His desire for every family to come to the knowledge and understanding of Who He is, the One True God in Christ Jesus, because life abundance, life eternal, and all forms of long-lasting blessings can only come from God (see John 10:10, John 3:16, and James 1:17). On the other hand, it is the enemy’s desire to steal, kill, and destroy, including families (see John 10:10). The enemy aims to do whatever it takes to destroy families and create a ripple effect on their children, the next generation, and the next. That is why it is so important that as believers of Jesus Christ we are to pray for our families without ceasing, and even fast if we must. How can you pray for your family? You can pray A Family’s Prayer in this manner:

Heavenly Father, I lift up my family to You. I thank You and glorify Your name for being sovereign, merciful, faithful, and good to my family. You are always there, protecting each one of them and guiding them to the right path and away from harm. You constantly bless them with good things, and you draw them to Jesus Christ that they may know You, our Heavenly Father. May You always give them Your peace, joy, satisfaction, and godly contentment in Christ Jesus. Amen.

Heavenly Father, I lift up my family to You. I thank You and glorify Your name for being sovereign, merciful, faithful, and good to my family.

A Family’s Prayer

Sometimes, it can be overwhelming to pray for your family, especially when you have a bigger family. There can be a lot of issues and matters that individual members may be going through and you wish to address in your prayers, so that sometimes you just don’t know where to start. Don’t worry, because the Holy Spirit is always there to help the believers in their weakness especially when it comes to praying (see Romans 8:26).

Whenever you find yourself overwhelmed by many things in your family, you can also opt to pray the Scriptures, which is also a powerful and effective prayer because you are declaring the very Words of God. For instance, if you want to bless your family with wisdom, you can declare James 1:5; for good health, pray 3 John 1:2 and use Philippians 4:6-7 for peace. As you read the Word of God, simply be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit as He highlights some scriptures that you can pray and declare for your family.

May You always protect them from harm and give them wisdom as they take on their separate lives each day. I pray that their dreams will come true according to Your will and purpose in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Heavenly Father, I lift up my family to You. I thank You and glorify Your name for being sovereign, merciful, faithful, and good to my family.

A Family’s Prayer

You may pray for your siblings in person directly or privately in your room. You can also lift them up to God individually or in general, depending on the matters and concerns you may see for them. Your prayers are such a great blessing to your siblings, and they have an impact in their lives.

How do I pray for my husband or wife?

As a family, it is vital that couples pray for one another. Since together you are the head and the leader of your family, it is vital that God is above you both so He can have full access to your home. When a husband and wife pray for each other, it keeps the devil away because if prayers are made in agreement by two or more in the name of Jesus, the Father hears them and answers them in Jesus’ name. The Lord is present in their midst, and He protects them from the works of the enemy.

As a couple, you can pray for each other by setting a private time for prayer. You can make an exchange prayer, lay your hands over each other as you pray, or hold hands together, depending on what makes you both comfortable. Moreover, you can also pray for your spouse individually in your prayer closet. But make sure you both have time to pray together as a couple as well as individually.

There are many things that you can pray for your spouse. The more specific you are in your prayer, the better results you will see. For instance, you can pray for a promotion in your husband’s job or a raise in salary for your wife. You can also pray for the healing of wounds or simply blessings and good health for your spouse. Let the Holy Spirit reveal what you can pray for your spouse as He leads you. Sometimes, unspoken words are revealed by God during your intercession time for your husband or wife.

Here is a simple prayer for appreciating and blessing your spouse:

Heavenly Father, I lift up to You the life of my spouse. Praise Your holy name for giving me such a wonderful partner for life. He/she is a precious gift from You that I truly treasure. I love him/her so much, and I pray that You bless him/her in all aspects of life. May You continue to fulfill his/her dreams and desires as I know that You are not yet finished in his/her life. I bless him/her with joy and peace in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Heavenly Father, I lift up my family to You. I thank You and glorify Your name for being sovereign, merciful, faithful, and good to my family.
