A Camper’s Prayer

Different people have various hobbies or interests that they want to enjoy from time to time. Some people like fishing—going to lakes, rivers, or the seaside to relax, unwind, and fish at the same time. They find happiness and pleasure whenever they catch a fish. For some people, it is camping. They find it exciting whenever they go into the wild and stay there for a day or couple of days without relying much upon conventional means. Even though, some campers bring conventional equipment and tools with them, many want to be as unconventional as possible; to be creative with what they can use in the wild and apply the survival knowledge they know. Camping is a great activity to do together, not just with friends but also with your family. Aside from spending time with your loved ones, you can also learn tons of skills. You will learn how to make a fire, how to tie certain knots in a rope, how to pitch a tent, how to cook in the wild, and more.

One of the things that you can pray for as you camp is to have a wonderful experience when camping with your loved ones. Here is a prayer you can pray as you go camping:

Heavenly Father, I pray that my loved ones (family/friends) and I will have a wonderful experience as we go camping. I pray that this will be an opportunity for us to grow in our relationship and drive us all to become even closer to one another. I pray that we will enjoy this camping trip and be able to create fun memories. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Heavenly Father, I pray that my loved ones (family/friends) and I will have a wonderful experience as we go camping.

How do I talk to God?

Praying before, during, and after an event such as your camping trip is very important. There are many things you should ultimately depend on God for—things like safe travel to and from the site and protection from any animals, bad weather, or danger during your stay (of course you should check out the location and weather first). Pray too that no one will get sick or suffer an accident while camping. Any concerns that you have, you can cast to God because He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). Remember that in Christ, God is Your Father. By being in Christ, you have been adopted into God’s family as His child (Romans 8:15), (Ephesians 1:5-7). Therefore, we should revere and fear God because He is the almighty God, but also because He is our heavenly Father. We can approach God as His child. Like a child who tells their concerns to their father, we can also confide in God. It is written:

Hebrews 4:16

Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Heavenly Father, I pray that my loved ones (family/friends) and I will have a wonderful experience as we go camping.

Because of what Christ has done for us on the cross, we can freely approach the throne of grace and ask God for the graces and mercies that we need as we pursue a hobby such as camping.

Another thing to keep in mind is:

Philippians 4:6-7

6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Heavenly Father, I pray that my loved ones (family/friends) and I will have a wonderful experience as we go camping.

Whatever anxieties or concerns you have, you should lift them to God in prayer. However, we should also exercise wisdom (Proverbs 28:26). If you know that the location for your camp is near many dangerous things or that the weather is going to be terrible, the wise thing to do is reschedule your trip or choose another location.

What should you say in prayer?

As mentioned before, there are many things that you can pray for. One of these things is your safe travel while traveling to your camping location and until all of you return home. When we say safe travel, this is not just when you are driving on the road going to and from your campsite. Some people have to hike or walk a long distance in the wild before getting to their remote camping location. That is also something that you can pray for. You can pray this prayer as you and your friends/family are going to your camping site:

Heavenly Father, I pray for Your mercy as we travel toward where we are camping. Protect us from any harm or danger as we hike or walk in the wild until we safely reach our camping destination. I pray that no one will be injured while hiking. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Heavenly Father, I pray that my loved ones (family/friends) and I will have a wonderful experience as we go camping.

Another thing that you can pray for is yourself, that you will have a presence of mind as you camp and that you will have a fruitful time. Here is how you can pray for yourself when camping:

Heavenly Father, give me the grace to always be alert and aware of my surroundings as I camp. Help me to always serve and help others and never be lazy, letting others do all the things that need to be done. I also pray, Father, that I will be able to relax and have a fruitful time on this camping trip. May this adventure enable me to learn more camping skills, which may benefit me in the future. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Heavenly Father, I pray that my loved ones (family/friends) and I will have a wonderful experience as we go camping.

You can also pray for the duration of your camping. Here is how you can pray as you camp in the wild:

Heavenly Father, I pray that you would protect our camp from any harm or danger. In the event that there are wild animals in the area, I pray that You would keep them away from our campsite, Father. I pray that no accident will happen and that no one shall get sick during our stay. I pray for pleasant weather, Father, that no heavy rain shall occur. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Heavenly Father, I pray that my loved ones (family/friends) and I will have a wonderful experience as we go camping.

Last, you can thank God after your camping trip for keeping you safe and sound and grateful for a fun time. You can pray this prayer as you thank God:

Heavenly Father, I thank You for the wonderful and fruitful time we had during our camping trip. I thank You because I learned new skills and created new memories with my friends/family. Thank You for keeping us safe when we were camping and traveling, Father. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Heavenly Father, I pray that my loved ones (family/friends) and I will have a wonderful experience as we go camping.

Maximize your camping trip by making sure to spend time with God alone. There are times we should spend in solitude with God. You can also see the beauty of nature that points to its magnificent Creator, which is God, and speaks of His glory, making you worship Him all the more. By experiencing nature, you can become in awe of the majesty and splendor of God.
