A Child’s Prayer for Thanksgiving

Everything we have in this life is there because God has been good, gracious, and merciful to us. Whenever we encounter challenges in life, our response is to complain before God. We complain to God about why things in life are not the way we want them to be, why we don’t have the things we want, or why someone else is doing better than us. We tend to miss out and overlook the many things that God has been doing for us all along. For example, you are reading this article because you are still alive. That is God’s grace and mercy right there. Another one is that you can still eat and have a filled stomach while others are struggling to find food. There are so many things that God has been doing for us all along that we tend to overlook or disregard. That is why instead of complaining, the right response to always have is gratitude because no matter what your situation in life may be, there is always something to be grateful for.

Here is one of the prayers that you can pray as you cultivate a grateful heart toward God:

Heavenly Father, give me the grace and cause me to always be grateful at heart. Open my eyes to what You have always been doing for my well-being. I pray, Father, that I shall always respond with gratitude instead of grumbling or complaining whenever I encounter challenges in life. My joy and contentment are in Christ, Who is my greatest treasure. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Heavenly Father, thank You for another day for me to go to school and learn new things.

What is the prayer of thanksgiving in the Bible?

The Bible tells us that we are to always give thanks to God in all circumstances as written in [1 Thessalonians 5:18]. Several other Bible verses talk about giving thanks to God:

Philippians 4:6

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Heavenly Father, thank You for another day for me to go to school and learn new things.

Psalm 107:1

O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

Heavenly Father, thank You for another day for me to go to school and learn new things.

Colossians 3:17

And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Heavenly Father, thank You for another day for me to go to school and learn new things.

Colossians 2:6-7

6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:

7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

Giving thanks to God through prayer, from the phrase itself, is thanking God for everything that He has done for us. For example, in 2 Thessalonians 1:3, the apostle Paul was writing about giving thanks to God because the church in Thessalonica had been growing in the faith abundantly, and their love for each other was increasing.

How do you thank God for all His blessings?

There are countless things that God blesses our lives with, which means there are also countless things to thank God for. When we thank God for all His blessings, we praise Him, thank Him, and give all credit to Him because all we have is only because of His goodness, mercy, and grace in our lives.

Here are some examples of how you can thank God for the things that He has been doing for us in our everyday lives that we sometimes tend to forget:

Being able to come home safely

Heavenly Father, thank You for keeping me safe from any harm or danger as I travel from my house, go to school, and come back home. Your mercy is guarding me every day when I travel to the places I need to go. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Heavenly Father, thank You for another day for me to go to school and learn new things.

Daily provision/food

Heavenly Father, I thank You for the provisions you have offered us every day. I thank You because we can still eat and fill our stomachs. Continue to provide for us the things that we need, Father. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Heavenly Father, thank You for another day for me to go to school and learn new things.

Being able to study

Heavenly Father, thank You for providing us with the finances that we need so that I may be able to enroll and study. Thank You for the opportunity of being able to have access to education. Help me to always be faithful and excellent in my studies and to glorify You in them. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Heavenly Father, thank You for another day for me to go to school and learn new things.

A Child’s Prayer for Thanksgiving

Sometimes, when we pause and think about some things that we are thankful to God for, we realize that there are many things for which we are grateful—things that wouldn’t be possible apart from God’s grace and mercy. Whether small or big things in life, God has been providing these blessings all along to sustain us. Even if we encounter hardships in life, we can still be content and thank God for many things because Christ is our joy and our greatest treasure.
