How to Pray to God and Get Results

God’s Word is God’s will. When you pray the Word of God, you can expect results to come. Most people pray what’s in their mind and heart, but when you pray according to the Spirit’s leading and according to the Scriptures, you’ll see far better and faster results than praying your own will. It is important to pray God’s will above our own if we want our prayers to get answers. For instance, people beg God for healing when it is His will and desire to heal. Instead of begging in prayer, you can pray in this manner:

Thank You, God, for healing my friend. It is Your will and desire to heal Him. I declare his body to come in alignment with Your will and I command every pain and sickness to leave his body right now in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Moreover, the Bible instructs us to pray without ceasing. This calls for perseverance and consistency in our prayer with God to get results (see 1 Thessalonians 5:17). Somehow, the results of our prayers aren’t always seen in an instant. There may be a spiritual battle taking place that hinders our prayers from getting answered, which is why we must not give up praying. One example of prayers getting hindered in the Bible was in the story of Daniel. In Daniel 10:8-14, the angel Gabriel came to Daniel and told him how he was hindered for twenty-one days by Satan and his minions. We must be diligent in our prayers until we get to see God’s results.

To get results when you pray to God, you must also not conceal or hide things such as sin or wrongdoing from Him. Psalm 66:18 says, If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me. As you prioritize getting closer and more intimate with God, you won’t hide things from Him but be transparent to Him in your prayers. You know that He is the most loving, understandable, and trustworthy Being, Who you can always run to. If you have this kind of relationship with God, you can expect His answers to your prayers because you know Him.

How to Pray to God and Get Results

Depending on what you are asking God to happen, things will happen only if your prayers are according to His will. The more knowledgeable you are about His Word, the more you’ll know and be aligned to His will. Psalm 37:4 says, Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. When your heart delights in the Lord, the desires of your heart will also be His desires. And when you pray, you can expect things to happen. Jesus said, If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you (John 15:7). If you want God to answer your prayer, know His Word and His will. Then abide as Jesus said.

Psalm 37:4 says, Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

For instance, during your intercession for others, the Holy Spirit may show you events, people, situations, and the like that call you to stand in the gap. As you do this, you can declare and pray the Scripture promise of God over a particular situation or event such as His protection, provision, declaration of hope, peace, life, joy, etc. It is important to always partner with the Holy Spirit in your prayer especially when it concerns wanting things to happen. Sometimes, we can desire something to happen that is actually not the will of God for that person or situation. Sometimes, a lack of knowledge of God’s Word may cause us to pray for things that are not His will, such as the death of an evil person or an accident or unfortunate event to happen to a person we think deserves that. This must not be so, because we are not God. Only God alone is perfect and just in all His ways. He knows what is best, so we must always choose His will over our understanding of things.

In the Bible, we have seen how men and women of faith prayed to God for something to happen and it did because it was His will. For instance, Jesus prayed to the Father to raise Lazarus back to life so that God may be glorified (see John 11:41-44). And Lazarus was brought back to life. Elijah prayed for a miracle fire from heaven and that was what happened for God’s glory (see 1 Kings 18:37-39). Things happen when you pray according to God’s purpose for His glory and honor.

How can I get answers from God?

As discussed earlier, if you want to get answers from God as you pray, you must:

  1. Know His Word and His will
  2. Not conceal your sin or transgression
  3. Pray the Scriptures and according to the Scriptures
  4. Pray for the purpose of glorifying God and advancing His Kingdom
  5. Focus on your intimacy and relationship with Him

These are some ways for your prayers to be effective and see God’s results. And lastly, you must believe that you have been made righteous by the blood of Jesus Christ alone. God hears and answers your prayers because of Christ’s righteousness in you. And the prayer of a righteous person is effective (see James 5:16).
