A Closing Prayer After A Meeting

If you are a Christian working in the secular world and you just had a meeting, it is always good to end the meeting with prayer whenever there is an opportunity. If you are a high-ranking officer in the company and you are the one leading the meeting, by all means, use your influence and end your meeting with a prayer. If you are not a high-ranking officer, it won’t hurt to ask your superior if you can end the meeting with a prayer. You may or may not be allowed, but regardless, it is worth a shot to ask.

There are many ways for Christians in the workplace to be the salt and light. One is to be excellent in their work as they work for the Lord and give Him glory in it. Another way is the one we mentioned, which is to pray before and after a meeting. When you pray, you can mention Christ and the things of God in your prayers, giving listeners hints and clues so the Holy Spirit may lead them to desire to know even more. Praying after a meeting should be practiced not only in secular meetings but also when it comes to ministry-related meetings in the church. For example, church staff and volunteers also have meetings regarding the church or ministry. Knowing that they are already Christians, they all the more should not just begin their meetings with prayers but also end them with prayers too.

You can pray this prayer for your fellow staff members in the secular workplace as you meet on several different occasions:

Father in heaven, I pray that we will never forget to begin our meeting with prayer and end it with prayer. Give me the boldness to ask my superior whether I can start and end our meeting with prayer or not. I pray that You will touch the heart of my superior and that they will let me pray in our meeting. Work in the hearts of the people who will hear my prayer, Father, that it may spark the desire in their hearts to know more about Who Christ is, Who You are, and what You are like. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Father in heaven, I pray that we will never forget to begin our meeting with prayer and end it with prayer.

(You can modify the prayer if you are a superior of the staff)

As mentioned, meetings also happen in the church regarding ministry-related things. Whether you are a volunteer in the church or a full-time staff/minister, here is a prayer you can pray with regard to your meetings:

Father in heaven, I ask that by praying before and after our meetings, we shall always come before You and humble ourselves before You as we meet regarding the ministry work that we do. Let everything that we have planned in our meeting be all for Your glory and the expansion of Your kingdom. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Father in heaven, I pray that we will never forget to begin our meeting with prayer and end it with prayer.

How do you end a meeting?

An excellent way to end a meeting is by committing your work to the Lord. It is written in Proverbs 16:3:

Proverbs 16:3

Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.

If you are a Christian in a secular workplace, this is where you can be the salt and light there. For sure, non-Christian employees will not ever think of committing the work they do to the LORD. They may not even believe in God in the first place. But by praying at the end of the meeting to commit to the LORD the work that you do, it tells the people who are listening to your prayers that life is not all about the work itself—you can have a purpose in life, and that is why all the work that you do should be committed to God. It also tells them that God is the only one Who can bring ultimate success to one’s plans. In other words, you are being a good example and are preaching truth there; all the more if you are meeting with regard to ministry work. If you are not committing your ministry work to the LORD, then everything you do in ministry and everything you plan for in the meeting is pointless because everything we do should be for God and God-glorifying. That is why every ministry work should be committed to Him.

Colossians 3:23-24

23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

1 Corinthians 10:31

Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

Given the Bible verses mentioned above, here is how you can pray them as you end your meeting:

Father in heaven, I pray that we shall always commit our work to You, Father, and that in everything we do, we do it for Your glory and kingdom. We commit the plans and decisions that we have discussed in our meeting toward You, Father, Who are the only One Who can establish them. We commit every endeavor that we have to You, Father, because You are the only One Who can cause them to prosper. We thank You because You have a purpose for our work in Your sovereign care of the world. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Another thing that you can pray for is about glorifying God in the work that you do, or, in this case, the plans and decisions that you have discussed in the meeting:

Heavenly Father, I pray that as we execute the plans that we have discussed in our meetings, we will do it for You and out of glorifying You. We thank You, Father, because everything that we do for You and Your kingdom always has a purpose and an eternal weight. Give us an eternal perspective on the things that we do. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Father in heaven, I pray that we will never forget to begin our meeting with prayer and end it with prayer.

Proverbs 16:9 and Proverbs 19:21 are also good verses to pray and meditate on this aspect. It tells us that man can plan all that he wants, but at the end of the day, the purpose of the LORD will still stand. It also tells us that it is God Who directs our steps. That is how you can pray this verse:

Father in heaven, guide us, LORD, to where you want us to be or the things You want us to do; direct our steps toward it so that we may do the things that are Your will. We thank You, Father, because we may plan things in our hearts, but at the end of the day, it is Your purpose that shall stand. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Father in heaven, I pray that we will never forget to begin our meeting with prayer and end it with prayer.

How do you thank God with prayer?

Something that should always be a part of our prayer whenever we end a meeting is thanking God. But why do we have to thank God, aside from the Bible saying that we should always give thanks to God? As it is written in 1 Thessalonians 5:18:

1 Thessalonians 5:18

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

We should thank God because we can have a productive meeting only because of God’s grace. Even people who are not Christians can think of good ideas and are skillful in the work that they do only because of God’s common grace.

Matthew 5:45

That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

That is why it is fitting to give all the credit and glory to God—if not for God and his grace, there wouldn’t be a fruitful or productive meeting. Here is a prayer you can pray as you thank God after your meeting:

Father in heaven, we thank You for Your graces that helped us and enabled us to come up with good ideas and plans regarding matters that we have discussed. I thank You, Father, because You are the source of everything from which everything has come, even the good ideas, plans, and intellect that we have. We give You all the glory, Father. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

As mentioned before, praying to God is coming before God and humbling ourselves before Him. We do it after we have our meeting because, as Christians, we know that only God can make our plans and ideas work. That is why you should never forget to thank God whenever the plans that you discussed in your meeting have succeeded.
