A Prayer For A Legal Case

Legal cases are very serious matters. A legal case is where a certain dispute or happening is brought to the court so that justice can be served. A legal case is not just a matter of corporate disputes, where if one party is not able to fulfill their end of the contract, the other party files a lawsuit. It goes to even more serious cases concerning humanity, such as crimes, rights violations, and many more.

Father in heaven, I thank You because You designated governments to execute justice by enforcing law and order, imperfect as they may be. I pray that they shall be faithful to what they should be doing. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

What can I pray for in a legal case?

There are many things that you can pray for regarding a legal case, but the primary thing you can pray for is for justice to be served; regardless of the case, justice must be served. Going back to the example mentioned above, where one party files a lawsuit against the other party for failing to fulfill their end of a contract, justice should be served in a manner that the outcome will indeed be fair. What if the defending party fulfilled their end of the contract, and the plaintiff was just trying to extort more money from the defendant? The point is that a case is not always how it seems to be at first glance. That is why there is due process. As that due process is occurring, we can pray for justice to be served.

Another important prayer you can say is for legal professionals involved in the case. That would mean praying for the judge and the attorney/prosecutor/public defendants handling the case you are concerned with. You can pray that the judge will show impartiality in judging the case and that they will exercise wisdom as they judge the case, just like Solomon in 1 Kings 3:16-28. With that, you can pray for God’s common grace upon the judge, for all wisdom comes from God alone. You can also pray for the attorney or counsel of the party you are concerned within the case. Pray that they shall be excellent and competent in their work, that they will do everything in their power to fight for the case, and for God’s common grace to be upon them so that they also have the wisdom they need.

If other third-party people are involved, you can also pray for them. Investigators or law enforcement officers may be called to stand in as witnesses if a crime has been committed. Civilians may also be called as witnesses, whether it is a criminal or civil case. Some experts may even be called to the stand, depending on the case. The point is that other people may be involved whose testimonies could greatly affect the result of the case. In that sense, a prayer for integrity is the best prayer you can say. Pray that they shall be objective in what they are going to say as witnesses and that they won’t have any bias. You don’t necessarily pray for them to be in your favor… just pray for them to be truthful.

Father in heaven, I thank You because You designated governments to execute justice by enforcing law and order, imperfect as they may be.\

How can I pray for a legal case?

You can pray for a legal case by praying the prayer points mentioned above. Regardless of the case, praying for the judge, the attorneys/prosecutors/public defendants, and the people involved should always be a part of your prayer. Aside from that, you can think of your concerns or cares regarding a legal case and cast them all to God in prayer. For example, let’s say there is a case where a school teacher is facing a lawsuit for refusing to conform to liberal ideologies of identity and gender and could lose his job as a result.

The concern we can have with that example is for the judge not to be biased but to instead judge the case justly (although we know the just thing to do in that example). You can also pray for financial provision upon that teacher for a good lawyer or at least an excellent public defendant who will serve the teacher’s best interest. Another concern that we have is that politics may influence justice.

With that in mind, here is an example of a prayer for the sample legal case we mentioned:

Father in heaven, I pray for the legal case of the teacher who is facing charges for refusing to conform to the patterns of this modern world. I pray that the judge will judge the case in a just manner and that politics won’t influence them. I pray that the rights of the teachers shall also be seen and valued. I pray for the jury to be objective and reasonable, whether they subscribe to liberal ideologies or not. I pray that justice shall prevail and that the lawyer of that teacher will have the wisdom that they need to defend the teacher. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Of course, different cases raise different concerns. The principle here is to think of all your cares regarding a legal case and cast them all to God. In (6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.1 Peter 5:6-7), it is written that we are to humble ourselves and cast our cares or burdens to God because He cares for us. Also, it is written in Philippians 4:6-7 that we are to present our prayer requests to God, whose peace that transcends all understanding shall guard our hearts and minds.

Father in heaven, I thank You because You designated governments to execute justice by enforcing law and order, imperfect as they may be.\

A Prayer For A Legal Case

A legal case is indeed a nerve-wracking thing. However, the comfort we can take is that God is sovereign. No matter what happens in a legal case, it does not change what Psalm 97 says: the LORD reigns. God is sovereign over everything, and His divine providence is always at work, as we have seen in the life of Joseph in (But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive. Genesis 50:20). Most of all, we can trust God because He is holy, as written in Psalm 99. He is the highest thereof who is perfect in morality. That is why He is a righteous, just, and holy God. If you are facing a legal case, know that God, who is omnipresent, is with you. Just as He is there enthroned in the heavens, the same Most High God is with you through all your trials.

Father in heaven, I thank You because You designated governments to execute justice by enforcing law and order, imperfect as they may be.\
