A Christian Biblical Prayer for Financial Help

The Bible offers us insight, guidance, and revelations regarding God’s provisions, supplications, and blessings of financial breakthroughs in our lives. As a believer of Christ Jesus, you must first know that provision and supplication are promises of the Heavenly Father to all His children. Similarly, it is a parent’s duty to provide for their children’s daily needs, regardless of whether their children ask for it; it is an automatic response of parents to fulfill the needs of their children. The same is true of our Heavenly Father. Jesus said in Matthew 6:31-33 that the Heavenly Father knows all your needs, so you don’t have to worry about food, clothes, or other necessities. Instead, you are to seek His Kingdom and righteousness first, and He will add all other things to your life. So what is a biblical prayer for financial help or an economic breakthrough? You can pray in this manner:

Heavenly Father, thank You, as I seek first Your Kingdom and righteousness in Christ Jesus, I know that everything my family and I need is already taken care of by You.

A Christian Biblical Prayer For Financial Help

Heavenly Father, thank You, as I seek first Your Kingdom and righteousness in Christ Jesus, I know that everything my family and I need is already taken care of by You. I don’t have to worry about tomorrow or the things I need to pay for and settle because You already know what I need. I thank You for providing for all my needs, and I trust in You for all the things in my life, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Based on the prayer above, you can see that it is from Matthew 6:31-33. You just prayed the Scripture, knowing God does not break His Word. It helps to look for Scriptures in the Bible related to God’s promise for provision and supplication and to incorporate them into your prayers and declarations.

Another way you can pray for your finances is by simply declaring words of life to your situation. Proverbs 18:21 says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” Here is a prayer of declaration for a financial breakthrough:

In Jesus’ name, I shall lack no good thing because God is faithful to provide for all that I need. He makes me lie down in green pastures and has a wonderful plan for my future. Amen!

Pray with confidence and faith in God who is faithful to keep His Word and His promises, knowing that He is sure to provide for everything you need—financially, physically, materially, or spiritually. Abba Father is able and He is faithful.

How do you pray for financial needs?

When in dire financial need, the most effective biblical principle to apply to your own financial needs is giving and sowing seed. Jesus said in Luke 6:38, “Give and it shall be given unto you, good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the measure that ye mete, withal it shall be measured to you again.”

Most believers think that before they can give to others, they must have enough for themselves; otherwise, there’s nothing to give. However, this Scripture tells us that God shall give you what you’re asking for when you give to others. You may be thinking, “How can I give when I don’t have anything to give at all?” Don’t look at what you don’t currently have. Instead, look at the things you do have and then start to give from there. It doesn’t matter how small or few your generosity may seem. Allow the Holy Spirit to guide you into giving and sowing to someone else in need and you will be surprised that Jesus’ words in Luke 6:38 will come to life.

Consider the widow’s story in Zarephath in 1 Kings 17:7-16. She and her son were about to die from starvation, and while preparing their very last meal, Elijah the prophet was sent to her by God. Elijah told the widow to give him a jar of water and bread; however, the widow said she only had a handful of flour in a jar and a little olive oil in a jug. This is how Elijah replied, “Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son. For thus saith the Lord God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the Lord sendeth rain upon the earth.”

The widow believed in the prophet’s word, obeyed God, and baked bread for Elijah, for her and her son. Then a miracle occurred, as her jar of flour and oil never ran out of stock.

The widow did not think about what she didn’t have and did not allow fear to hold her back from giving; instead, she believed in the word of God through Elijah and willingly trusted in the LORD. In return, God provided for her and her son’s needs.

Moreover, in the New Testament, the Apostle Paul was blessed by the brethren in Philippians, as they were the only ones financially supporting the Apostle’s needs. So he blessed them and said, “Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account. But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odor of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, well pleasing to God. But my God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

It is truly through giving that God entrusts you with more. As you desire to be a channel of blessing to others, God will provide and increase you in all areas of your life. 2 Corinthians 9:6 says, “…He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for touching my heart to be a giver in the Kingdom. As I allow myself to be a channel of blessing to others and simply trust you for all that I need, I know that You will increase what I have and provide for everything else in my life. Thank You for touching and anointing my hands and my feet to cheerfully give with all my resources. I don’t have to be afraid of lack or losing because I have an unlimited supply through Christ Jesus. Amen.
