Just as working individuals pray to have a good day at work – having a productive day, solving the problems that need to be solved, meeting goals, etc. – the same applies to students, whether they are in elementary, junior or senior high school, college, or even those who are working on their graduate studies. However, for us to pray for a good day at school, we must first have an idea of what makes a good day at school. This would be a day when one is able to learn something, be productive, and glorify God.
Father in heaven, I pray that as I go to school today, I shall commit and dedicate my work to You, glorifying You through my studies. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
Learning and Understanding
It’s likely that one of the things that could give us a bad day at school is if we didn’t learn or understand some, if not all, of the classes or subjects that we took. So, a good day at school could mean having successfully learned and understood something. After all, education is the primary goal of going to school. Just as salespeople see being able to meet their sales quota for the day as good, success for students is being able to learn and understand what they are studying to grow in knowledge.

With that, praying for a good day at school means we ask God for learning and understanding of what we are studying. All wisdom, knowledge, and understanding come from the Lord (Proverbs 2:6 For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.). So, it is only fitting that we come before God and ask Him for the wisdom to understand the subject or subjects we are studying. We do so out of dependence on God (Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.).

Father in heaven, as I study and listen to lectures, give me the ability to learn and understand my subjects so that I may have a good, successful day at school. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Being Productive for God
In line with being able to benefit from our studies and absorbing what we need from our classes, we also want to have a productive day. A productive day for a student may mean having been able to finish all the readings that he or she needs to finish, get some homework done in advance, wrap up some projects, or perhaps meet some study objectives and goals that we had for the day.
Of course, we cannot just pray and ask God for us to have a good and productive day at school without doing our part. We have to be diligent students. So, praying for a good, productive day at school would mean asking God for the grace to be diligent and faithful in our studies (Proverbs 21:5; Hebrews 4:16).
Heavenly Father, give me the grace to be diligent and faithful in my studies. Help me exercise discipline, always stick to my study schedule, and never procrastinate. May I be able to finish the goals and objectives that I have for the day. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Glorifying God for the Day
As Christians, everything that we do, even in our studies, is not for high grades or big achievements. It is all for the glory of God (1 Corinthians 10:31). We want to honor God through our studies by the diligence and excellence that we display through them. Besides the studies themselves, reflecting Christ and bearing God’s image on other people in the way that we live our lives is another way we want to glorify God at school (Philippians 1:27 Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;). This would also include being the salt and light to the people we meet and interact with on campus (Matthew 5:13-16).

For Christians, being able to glorify God alone makes the day good because it is our very heartbeat as believers—to live for God, honor Him, and glorify Him. It is our very desire as new creations that have been given a new heart (2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.).

A Prayer for a Good Day at School
Father in heaven, I pray that today I will have a good day at school, not just by being able to learn in my studies and achieve my goals for the day but also by being able to preach Christ to my teachers and friends and reflect Christ to them through all I do. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

A Prayer for a Good Day at School
Learning and understanding what we study and being able to have a productive day make our time at school purposeful because we want to honor God by being excellent at our studies. Not only that, we want to be able to reflect Who Christ is to others in everything that we do during school. This is all because we live a life of worship toward God.
