A Bible Prayer for Healing

A prayer offered in faith will make a sick person well, according to James 5:15. God’s intent is never to cause harm and sickness to anyone, but His will is to bring about healing. That’s what Jesus Christ did when He came in the flesh to Earth; He healed people’s diseases and made them well again. A Bible prayer for healing leads you to the truth of God’s Word, and you make them into a prayer. Here is an example:

Psalm 107:20 He sent his word, healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.

Thank You, Father, for Your Word brings me healing. You deliver me from all kinds of afflictions, and the works of the enemy, in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

It can be challenging to pray for healing when you are sick, or when someone dear to us is sick, especially when negative thoughts and emotions are dominating your mind, but never forget that it is not you who brings the healing, but the LORD who is powerful, faithful and true to His Word. As you fix your eyes on Jesus Christ and believe in His name, trust in Him, the great Healer, and the great Physician.

Thank You, Father, for Your Word brings me healing.

How can I speak to my body to heal?

Proverbs 18:21 says that there is power in the tongue, and that you can speak and declare words of life, words of healing to your body, so that you may eat the fruit of your words. Here is an example:

I declare health to my bones, life to my inner body parts, and the blood of Christ flowing through my veins in the name of Jesus. No sickness and disease will come near me through the victory of Christ Jesus on the cross. Amen.

Thank You, Father, for Your Word brings me healing.

Why should we pray for healing?

Healing is God’s will. We must pray for healing, especially for those who are sick; minister unto them by laying hands on the sick and declaring healing in the name of Jesus. God’s compassion, grace, mercy, and love flow in and through us when we pray for healing and heal the sick, as commanded by the LORD Jesus Christ.

When we pray for God’s healing, we are praying for His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. God moves on behalf of those standing in the gap through prayers and intercessions, because God has given dominion and authority in Christ Jesus to man. God needs cooperation and our partnership with the Holy Spirit, which will result in His Kingdom coming upon the earth.

The lies of the enemy torment countless people every day, filling their minds with hate, unforgiveness, rage, traces of bitterness, worry, anxiety, depression, and offenses that can make way for sicknesses and illnesses to dwell in people’s bodies. But when we pray against these things by declaring God’s Word, by acting upon His will and promises for healing, salvation, deliverance, and freedom in Christ Jesus’ name, God’s heavenly angels come to answer the prayers of men and fulfill the will of God (see Daniel 10:12-17). When we heal the sick, the Kingdom of God comes into people’s lives, which glorifies God.

Healing is a promise of God, and many more Scripture verses speak about God’s healing promise and power. In the Gospel, you can read many stories on healing through the life of Jesus Christ—the blind were able to see, the mute was able to speak, the lame walked, skin diseases were healed, high fever, shriveled hands, spine problems, and even afflictions that demons had caused were healed. He even raised the dead back to life.

Healing is made available to us by God through Jesus Christ. When we place our faith and hope in Him, He who healed yesterday continues to do so today. He is faithful and ever constant to who He is. Continue to trust in Him and have faith that in the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow, including diseases.

Thank You, Father, for Your Word brings me healing.

How can I use God’s Word for healing?

You can use God’s Word for healing by declaring them plainly, and making them into a prayer in Jesus’ name. For instance, from the given Scriptures above, here are some examples of how you can use God’s Word for healing:

Lord, thank You for being close to the broken-hearted. Thank You for being here with me, comforting me and healing me. You save me from the situations of my life and I can count on You, in Jesus’ name. Amen. (Prayer based on Psalm 34:18)

Thank You, Father, for Your Word brings me healing.

A Bible Prayer for Healing

(Declaration based on 1 Peter 2:24)

When you declare the Word of God, heaven acts upon it because His Word never returns void. It always manifests and bears fruit because God’s Word embodies His promise and His will to save mankind. The more you use the Scriptures in your prayer life, the more you will see the manifestation of His will in your life through Christ Jesus.

What did Jesus say about healing the sick?

Jesus said that those who believe in His name would do more incredible things than He did, including healing. He commanded his disciples to “Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give” (Matthew 10:8). There are many accounts in the Gospel where healings took place wherever Jesus went. For instance, when Peter’s mother-in-law was sick with a high fever, Jesus Christ rebuked the fever, and the mother got up and served them, as she was instantly healed.

Jesus wants His followers and disciples to do the same things He did. His command for the believers and followers is to heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, and cast out devils. Moreover, this is what Jesus said, “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” (Mark 16:17-18)

The Holy Spirit who raised Christ from the dead lives inside you, and God’s power is bound to manifest when you obey the LORD’s command.

How do I activate God’s healing power?

For God’s healing power to manifest through you, believe in the power of the name of Jesus and walk according to the commands of Jesus Christ, according to who you are in Him. Be bold to take risks to heal the sick whenever you see someone walking in the street with a cast, or perhaps it can be a friend or relative who is unwell in their home. Wherever you go, Christ is in you, and healing can take place anytime you step out to do the commands of Jesus and the will of God.

In the Book of Acts, when Jesus Christ ascended into heaven, and the Holy Spirit had come upon the believers in the upper room, the Apostle Peter first demonstrated healing upon seeing a lame man by the street begging for money. But this is what he said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk” (Acts 3:6). Then he took the lame man by the hand and lifted him, and the man was healed.

Whoever it is that may need healing, say, “In the name of Jesus be healed!” or “In the name of Jesus, I command this sickness to leave!”

Yes, you have the authority in Christ Jesus to trample on every snake and scorpion, including diseases, which are the works of the enemy. The Holy Spirit wants to manifest His power in you and through you in Christ Jesus.

What do you do when you pray for healing, and it doesn’t happen?

When someone doesn’t get healed, despite all the prayers offered in faith and the confession of one’s sins, God remains sovereign in life’s circumstances, and He can work all things for the better. No one holds all the answers, and sometimes it can be hard to understand and fathom the ways of God, but we can always trust in Him whose ways and thoughts are higher than ours.

No matter what happens, continue to pray without ceasing, rejoice always, and in everything give thanks to the LORD, for that is His will (see 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).

Remain faithful to Him and continuously pray for, declare, and heal the sick in the name of Jesus. Let Him who holds all power, knowledge, wisdom, and truth perform His most perfect will. You can trust Him because He is faithful and compassionate in all things.
