A Healing Prayer For My Niece

A great way to put our love for our nieces into action is by praying for them. Along with gestures like giving them gifts, being there for them in times of need, encouraging them, and—most of all—leading them to Christ, praying for them is one of the sweetest things that we can do for our nieces. We should pray for whatever they need, including healing in times of sickness or injury.

Father in heaven, I pray for my niece’s emotional and physical well-being. Thank You because You are the God who watches over her. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

The God Who Heals

The God we worship is a God who heals. In (Exodus 15:26 He said, “If you listen carefully to the Lord your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals you.”), God is described as Jehovah Rappha, which means “the God who heals.” God, who is all-powerful, almighty, and sovereign, has the power to heal—he can and will heal whatever diseases or injuries our nieces may have. We see it both in the Old Testament, like in 2 Kings 20:5, where God healed King Hezekiah from a dire illness, and in the New Testament, like in Matthew 8:16–17, where one of Jesus’ ministries was to heal the sick. Passages that describe God’s healing power should encourage us as we pray for healing for our nieces, no matter what sicknesses they may have. We should take comfort in the fact that God can heal.

However, God’s healing encompasses more than the physical. It is holistic in that He primarily heals us spiritually in Christ, where our hearts of stone become hearts of flesh (Ezekiel 36:26–27). This also means that God can heal our emotional wounds that lie beyond medicine’s capability. At times, our nieces’ cuts and scars are not physical but emotional. In seasons of emotional anguish, turmoil, pain, and hurt, we can take comfort in knowing that even those wounds can be healed by God. In (Psalm 147:3 He heals the brokenhearted     and binds up their wounds.), it is written that He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

Reminders in Tough Seasons

When our nieces go through trying times and need healing, whether physical or emotional, there are several reminders we can ponder as we pray for their well-being. Here are some of them:

1) The LORD is faithful.

In Lamentations 3:22–23, not only does the passage tell us that God’s mercies are new every morning and that His love is steadfast, but it also reminds us that great is His faithfulness. In Psalm 145:13 (ESV), it is written that the Lord is faithful in all His works and kind in all His works.

2) The LORD is capable.

No matter how much you pray for healing for your niece, it is all pointless if God is not even capable of doing it. It is one thing to pray for her healing—but is God even capable of providing this? The answer is a resounding yes! We know from the Scriptures that God can and does heal. Aside from passages showing that He heals, we also see He is the Almighty God (Jeremiah 32:17 “Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.), the Most High God from whom all power comes. We are talking about God, who created the very universe!

3) The LORD does not delay.

God’s thoughts are higher than our thoughts. His ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8–9). In our limited insight, we may sometimes feel that God is running late when it comes to answering our prayers. However, that is far from the truth. God is infinite in wisdom, and His knowledge is unattainable. He knows when the perfect time is for anything. Hence, we can trust God in His wisdom and know He will never delay.

How to Pray for Healing for Your Niece

Praying for healing for your niece is as simple as asking God to heal her in your prayers. Whether your niece needs emotional or physical healing, present those prayer requests to God, and His peace, which transcends all understanding, shall guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6–7, NIV).

As you pray to God to heal your niece, don’t forget to pray in faith. We pray expectantly, knowing that God is sovereign.

Father in heaven, I pray for healing upon my niece. Restore her physical body. I pray for every cell in her to recover and rejuvenate. I also pray for peace and healing for her emotional turmoils. Thank You, Father, because You are the One who restores her soul and mends her in all aspects of her being. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

No matter what the results are as we pray for healing, we can rest assured that God, in His infinite wisdom, works all things for the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28). At the end of the day, we put our hope for our niece not in this world but in Christ and the future glory that is to come (Romans 8:18 I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.).
