A Prayer for a Sick Person

Sickness is worrying to people because of the uncertainties it may bring. God never intended sickness to befall anyone, but because our bodies are subject to decay and the world we live in is corrupted by sin, sicknesses are inevitable.

However, our new life in Christ is our hope and glory. We thank the Lord Jesus Christ, who offered us healing and freedom from sickness by shedding His blood on the cross. Isaiah 53:5 says, “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him, and with his stripes we are healed.”

Because of what Jesus Christ has done, healing is our right, and it is just a declaration and a prayer away. Here is an example of a prayer against sickness:

“In Jesus’ name, I command the sickness to leave this body right now! I rebuke you for you have no right over my body, and I receive the healing Jesus Christ bought for me on the cross. Amen.”

“In Jesus’ name, I command the sickness to leave this body right now!

A Prayer for a Sick Person

Sickness and illness are not from God, but from the devil. John 10:10 says that it is the enemy who steals, kills, and destroys our health, finances, relationships, marriages, families, churches and ministries. Any destruction in our lives is never from God; that is why we must never embrace illness as a part of God’s will. Instead, it should be rebuked by the name and authority of Christ Jesus.

What is a good prayer for the sick?

The Bible tells us that faith-based prayers can restore a sick person. You can simply pray in full faith, believing in God’s healing power, and that’s it! Expect that healing should take place because God hears you and answers your prayers.

You should know that a prayer offered in faith is aligned with what the Scriptures say. Isaiah 53:5 says that by the stripes of Jesus Christ, we are healed. If you are going to pray for a sick person, you can say:

Heavenly Father, thank You that my friend is healed by the stripes of Jesus! Sickness and disease were nailed to the cross, and have no right to come upon my friend, in Jesus’ name.

“In Jesus’ name, I command the sickness to leave this body right now!

Or you can simply declare healing to the sick person: “I declare that in the mighty name of Jesus, you are healed!”

Say this, believing in your heart that every sickness and disease bows to the name of Jesus.

You must know that sickness has no right to enter a person’s life once you come to the knowledge that Jesus Christ paid for it all on the cross. You must be angry at the work of the devil, so that when you declare healing and uplift the name of Jesus Christ, hell trembles and breaks loose by the blood of Jesus.
