A Cry For Help Prayer

In life, we will encounter circumstances where we need God’s help. That is what differentiates Christians from non-Christians. Non-Christians rely on their strength in everything, in academics, work, and other things in life. On the other hand, we Christians depend on God for everything. That is why when we encounter something very difficult in life, our response is to cry out to God for help. Even as Christians, we should never forget that God is the source of everything. The intellect we have that has enabled us to excel in academics, the money we have that allows us to run our business, and even the skills we have to work on our careers all came from God. That is why, whenever we need help, we should come to God. God should always be our first resort, not our last.

Another essential thing to remember here is humility. It takes humility for someone to acknowledge their shortcomings and limitations and come to God to ask for His help. If we are full of pride, even if we are helpless, we will try to solve things independently and choose not to rely on God.

Heavenly Father, give me the grace to never be prideful and try to go through life’s difficulties on my own. Help me be humble instead and acknowledge that it is only You whom I can ultimately rely on and that You are the only One I can run to. Remind me to always come to you, not as a last resort, but as my primary response to all of life’s difficulties. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Heavenly Father, give me the grace to never be prideful and try to go through life's difficulties on my own.

A Cry for Help Prayer

What Psalm is a cry for help?

King David is no stranger to situations where he was helpless. At one point, King Saul was chasing him and wanted his life. King David went through many hardships in his life, but his response was not to try to solve everything on his own. Instead, he always relied on God. That is why we have the Psalms. Some of the Psalms are written by King David, when he was crying out to God for help, knowing that it is only God he could run to.

Psalm 34:4

I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.

Heavenly Father, give me the grace to never be prideful and try to go through life's difficulties on my own.

Psalm 18:6

6 In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.

7 Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth.

8 There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.

Psalm 57

Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast.

Heavenly Father, give me the grace to never be prideful and try to go through life's difficulties on my own.

Psalm 91

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

Heavenly Father, give me the grace to never be prideful and try to go through life's difficulties on my own.

A Cry for Help Prayer

Reading the Psalms where King David was crying out to God gives us a picture of who our God is. If we are in Christ, then the God whom King David is crying out to is the same God we can cry out to for help. The same God who helped King David is the same God who will also help us.

As you encounter difficulties in life, it is very important to know that you should run to God as your fortress and refuge. You should not seek refuge in your strength, bank accounts, or personal connections, but in God. As you go through hardships in life, remember Psalm 23. The Lord is your shepherd, even if you feel that you are walking through the valley of death. In our case, Christ is our good shepherd. You should fear no evil. He will never forsake His sheep. His rod and His staff comfort you.

Another thing we can learn from the Psalms of King David, whenever he cries out to God for help, is that he always worships and praises God. He magnifies God over His problems. We should have the same kind of response whenever we feel helpless. The best response we can have is to worship God, knowing that the God we run to for help is the all-powerful, almighty, everlasting, omniscient, omnipotent, and transcending God.

Heavenly Father, as I encounter difficulties in life where I feel helpless, only You can help me. You are my rock, my refuge, and my fortress. I run towards You, my dwelling place, whom I trust. I thank You because even if I feel that I am walking in the valley of the shadow of death, Christ is my shepherd. His rod and His staff comfort me. Thank You because, in Christ, You hear all of my pleas for mercy and help. As I seek You, You answer me and deliver me from all my fears. In my distress, my voice reaches You. Thank You, Father, because I have peace no matter what circumstances, as I am in Christ. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

How do you ask God for help in difficult times?

If you are in Christ, you are adopted as God’s child. Therefore, you can ask God for help as Your Father. However, we must also keep in mind that God is still God, and we should still show Him respect and reverence. Knowing that God is your Father, you can come running to God and ask Him for help, just as you do with your earthly father.

Romans 8:15

For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

Heavenly Father, give me the grace to never be prideful and try to go through life's difficulties on my own.

Matthew 7:7

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

Heavenly Father, give me the grace to never be prideful and try to go through life's difficulties on my own.

Matthew 6:33

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Heavenly Father, give me the grace to never be prideful and try to go through life's difficulties on my own.

Matthew 6:26

Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

Heavenly Father, give me the grace to never be prideful and try to go through life's difficulties on my own.

The Bible tells us that if God sustains the sparrows, how much more does he sustain us, who are more valuable than the sparrows? That is the privilege we have in Christ. God becomes our Father, whom we can run to for help.

Whatever circumstance you are in, you can ask God for help. Be honest about it and talk to God through prayer. There is no correct formula when it comes to asking God for help. For example, if you are in dire financial circumstances, you can pray this prayer and ask God for help:

Father in heaven, I pray for our needs as we go through financial difficulties. I thank You because You are always faithful to provide and You are the one who sustains me. Thank You, Father, because I still have joy and contentment in Christ, even in the midst of financial problems. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Heavenly Father, give me the grace to never be prideful and try to go through life's difficulties on my own.

A Cry for Help Prayer

If you are working and there is a big problem to handle, you can still run to God for help and ask Him for the grace that you need:

Heavenly Father, I come to You to ask You for help as I deal with problems at work. Give me the grace that I need, Father, and the understanding and wisdom to deal with the issues that I am facing. You are the source of everything. My skills and intellect all come from You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Heavenly Father, give me the grace to never be prideful and try to go through life's difficulties on my own.

A Cry for Help Prayer

When crying out to God for help, open up to Him without holding anything back. As you pray, remember who God is and what He is like. As we dwell more and fix our eyes on God, instead of dreading our helplessness, we end up worshiping and praising God, knowing who He is. This also assures us that no problem in life is bigger than God, who is sovereign over everything.

How do you trust God when life is hard?

You can always meditate upon Bible verses when you encounter difficulties in life. One is from

Genesis 50:20

But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.

Joseph, in the Old Testament, also went through very difficult situations. However, what Joseph’s brothers intended for Joseph’s harm, God used it for good. It opened the door for Joseph to become second in command in Egypt, which God used so that Israel could go to Egypt and get food during the famine. That is one of the Bible verses that implies God’s sovereignty. In other words, You can trust God, even if you are going through difficulties, because God is sovereign over everything. God is not surprised by the trials you are going through, nor does He let them get out of His hand. That is also why the apostles should have just calmed down and not panic when they were in the middle of the storm because Christ, whom even the winds and the waves obey, was with them. In Christ, you can rest assured that everything works together for your betterment, even in times of hardship.

Romans 8:28

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Heavenly Father, give me the grace to never be prideful and try to go through life's difficulties on my own.

A Cry for Help Prayer

Ephesians 1:11

In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

Heavenly Father, give me the grace to never be prideful and try to go through life's difficulties on my own.

A Cry for Help Prayer

Proverbs 19:21

There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand.

Heavenly Father, give me the grace to never be prideful and try to go through life's difficulties on my own.

A Cry for Help Prayer

Matthew 8:23-27

23 And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him.

24 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.

25 And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.

26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

27 But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!

Another reason why we can trust God as we go through hardships in life is because even in that season where you feel that you are walking in the valley of the shadow of death, His goodness and mercy follow You. Wherever you are, you are never outside of God’s sight. He will never leave you, nor forsake you. No matter what season you are in, whether in good or bad times, His love is steadfast, and His mercies are new every morning. God is faithful.

Psalm 23:6

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Heavenly Father, give me the grace to never be prideful and try to go through life's difficulties on my own.

A Cry for Help Prayer

Psalm 136:1

O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

Heavenly Father, give me the grace to never be prideful and try to go through life's difficulties on my own.

A Cry for Help Prayer

Lamentations 3:22-23

22 It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.

23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Heavenly Father, give me the grace to never be prideful and try to go through life's difficulties on my own.

A Cry for Help Prayer

Father in heaven, I thank You because even when I find myself in times of hardships, You are with me, and You will never leave me nor forsake me. Thank You because Your goodness and mercy follow me wherever I am, even in times of hardship. Thank You because even in a season of trials and difficulties, everything works together for the good of those who love You. I can still live a victorious and dynamic life in Christ. I still have joy because my joy hinges upon Christ. I thank You for all the grace you have given me to endure and persevere. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

In Christ, even if you are going through tough times and find yourself helpless, you can live a victorious and dynamic life. You can still be the salt and light to others, preach Christ to the lost, and worship God. That is the privilege we have in Christ. We can endure and persevere even in tough times because God gives us the grace to persevere. That is why, if you are not yet in Christ, work to understand the Gospel. Repent and believe in what Christ has done for you on the cross and commit to following Him. Everything written above is granted only for those who are in Christ.
