A Dad’s Prayer For His Daughter Before The Wedding

If you are a Christian and a father, you will obviously want to pray for your daughter before the wedding. As your daughter gets married, you are probably happy for your daughter, but also a bit sad. After all, your baby girl is all grown up and is about to start her own family with a godly man (hopefully). She is not the baby girl you always carried around and played with anymore, but a woman who is mature enough to have her own family. However, more than being a little bit sad, you are also happy for your daughter, knowing that she has found her better half who will provide, protect, and lead her—a godly man who will love your daughter as his wife, just as Christ loved the church. You are celebrating with your daughter on that joyous occasion. With that, it is a perfect time to offer a prayer of blessing upon your daughter before her wedding. It is another way of sending her off as she starts her own family with her husband. As a father, you are praying for your daughter out of your love for her. Here is A Dad’s Prayer For His Daughter Before The Wedding

Father in heaven, I thank You for this upcoming joyous occasion where my daughter is about to marry the man she has chosen to spend the rest of her life with. Thank You for blessing me with such a daughter and for the privilege of being her father and raising her to become a woman who fears You and follows Christ. I pray that she shall teach the godly values I taught her to her future kids. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Father in heaven, I thank You for this upcoming joyous occasion where my daughter is about to marry the man she has chosen to spend the rest of her life with.

A Dad’s Prayer for His Daughter Before the Wedding

What to say to your daughter when she is getting married?

One of the best things you can say or do for your daughter as she is about to get married is pray for her. Blessing your daughter with prayer is better than a wedding gift. That is not to say wedding gifts are bad, but between praying for your daughter and giving a wedding gift, praying for her is something you should never overlook.

When you pray for your daughter, there are many things you can pray for. You can pray for the upcoming wedding ceremony itself. You can pray that it shall not be rainy or cloudy, especially if the wedding venue is outside or a garden wedding. You can also pray for the wedding coordinators, that they shall do their jobs excellently and solve any unexpected problem that might arise. That also means you can pray for the ceremony not to have any serious technical difficulties. In the end, remember that a wedding is not about a program where everything must be super smooth. While it’s good to always strive for that, we must be careful not to be consumed with non-essential things. In this case, we don’t want your daughter or the bride and groom’s families to be stressed out over whether the ceremony will go smoothly. Weddings are not about programs, but about two people entering into a marriage covenant with Christ before God. That is the main essence of a wedding, and it is what we should focus on.

Matthew 6:33

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Father in heaven, I thank You for this upcoming joyous occasion where my daughter is about to marry the man she has chosen to spend the rest of her life with.

Colossians 3:2

Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

Father in heaven, I thank You for this upcoming joyous occasion where my daughter is about to marry the man she has chosen to spend the rest of her life with.

A Dad’s Prayer for His Daughter Before the Wedding

Given what we mentioned above, here is a prayer you can pray alone or with your daughter with regards to her wedding ceremony:

Father in heaven, thank You for making my daughter’s wedding possible. I thank You for all the provisions you have provided for them. I pray that there shall be good weather for the whole of my daughter’s wedding. I pray that no rain shall and that the skies will remain clear. I also pray for the wedding coordinators and the other crews who will run the wedding; may You give them the grace they need to do an excellent job and solve whatever technical problems may come up. I pray that no serious technical difficulties will happen. More than these things, remind us that a wedding is not about a program, but about a man and a woman coming together to enter into a marriage covenant with Christ. May we fix our eyes on You and Your glory as we witness my daughter and her fiancé entering into marriage. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

How do I bless my daughter on her wedding day?

You can offer a prayer of blessing for your daughter in many different ways. One relates to her becoming a wife. You can bless your daughter in that area, praying that she will become a wife who will be a good helper to her husband, a wife whose husband’s heart trusts in her, fears the Lord, and is kind and generous. Proverbs 31 is an excellent example of a wife who fears the Lord, and can inspire your prayer.

You can read Proverbs 31:10-31 for more details

Proverbs 31 gives us a great example of an excellent wife who is far more precious than jewels. What makes a wife excellent is not her outside appearance, but her character and fear of the LORD. This passage tells us about a wife who is prudent and diligent. It also tells us that an excellent wife is generous and blesses those in need. An excellent wife is strong and has dignity. She also has wisdom rooted in the fear of the LORD. When she opens her mouth, it is not foolish babble that comes out, but wisdom. Proverbs 31 also shows us that the teaching of kindness is on her tongue, which means that she is also kind.

When you pray for your daughter, it does not mean that she does not fear God or is not kind or generous. You pray this on her behalf, praying that she will continue to grow into being an excellent wife, just as Proverbs 31 shows us.

Father in heaven, I pray that You give [name of your daughter] the grace to continue to grow as a woman who fears You. I pray that she will continue to become an excellent wife, as exemplified in Proverbs 31. I pray that her outward appearance will never consume her, but she will look far more deeply into her heart and character. May she always exercise prudence and always be diligent. I also pray, Father, that the overflowing grace she has in Christ, which produces joy, shall always cause her to be generous and bless those in need. I pray that strength and dignity shall always be her clothing and that she will exercise wisdom in everything. I pray that she shall reflect Christ to others through her kindness, compassion, and gentleness. Also, give her the grace to submit to her husband, just as the church submits to Christ. All of this is only possible by Your grace. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Ephesians 5:22-24

22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

Another blessing you can pray for your daughter is for God to bless her and her future husband with children. Children are blessings from God. In fact, in the Old Testament, being barren or unable to conceive is dreaded or seen as a curse. The point is that having a child is a blessing, and having kids is a blessing that you can pray for your daughter. You can also pray for your daughter that she will raise her children well. You can bless her in that aspect by praying that she will grow into becoming a parent who will train her children in the ways of God and raise them to become godly men and women who know the LORD.

Deuteronomy 6:4-9

4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord:

5 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:

7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.

9 And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.

Proverbs 22:6

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Father in heaven, I thank You for this upcoming joyous occasion where my daughter is about to marry the man she has chosen to spend the rest of her life with.

Proverbs 29:15

The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.

Father in heaven, I thank You for this upcoming joyous occasion where my daughter is about to marry the man she has chosen to spend the rest of her life with.

A Dad’s Prayer for His Daughter Before the Wedding

Heavenly Father, I pray that You bless [name of your daughter] with children. As my daughter starts her own family, I pray that You will give her the grace to train her children in Your ways and that she will raise them to become godly people who know You. Most of all, give her the grace that she needs as she disciples and teaches her children about Your Son Jesus, and what He did on the cross for us. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Father in heaven, I thank You for this upcoming joyous occasion where my daughter is about to marry the man she has chosen to spend the rest of her life with.

You can also offer a prayer of blessing for your daughter regarding her marriage, as she continues to live as a godly man’s wife. You can pray that even if she is married, she will continue to preach Christ to the world, along with her husband. That includes being the salt and light to the world and a channel of blessing to other people. You can also pray for her and her future husband, that they will delight in God and each other as they become husband and wife.

Psalm 16:11

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Father in heaven, I thank You for this upcoming joyous occasion where my daughter is about to marry the man she has chosen to spend the rest of her life with.

2 Corinthians 5:20–21

20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.

21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Hebrews 3:12–13

12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.

13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

Philippians 2:3–5

3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

Father in heaven, I pray that as my daughter enters into a marriage covenant with her fiance, she will continue to delight in You and enjoy Your presence in her life, more than her husband or anything else. I pray that you will use them to reach out to the lost and preach Christ to them as a couple. Use them as your instrument for the expansion of Your kingdom, and may their marriage be a good example to those who are not yet married. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

The greatest blessing you can pray for your daughter if she is not yet a Christian is for her to get to know Jesus. You should also preach the Gospel to her. The greatest blessing a person can receive is the spiritual blessing that we receive from Christ, which is eternal life. Here is how you can pray for your daughter to receive Jesus as her Lord and Savior:

Father in heaven, I pray for [name of daughter], that You would work in her heart and turn her heart of stone to a heart of flesh so that she may receive the Gospel when I preach to her, so that she may repent and believe in the work and person of Christ. Open her spiritual eyes and cause her to be born again, Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Father in heaven, I thank You for this upcoming joyous occasion where my daughter is about to marry the man she has chosen to spend the rest of her life with.

A Dad’s Prayer for His Daughter Before the Wedding

As you let go of your daughter, when she marries another man, you may have some worries concerning her well-being. Know that if she is in Christ, it is God who will look after your daughter. He is the One who will always take care of her. You may not be with your daughter twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, but God will never leave her nor forsake her.
