A Christian Marriage Prayer

Marriage is a wonderful journey provided by God. When you make Christ Jesus the center of your marriage, you will see that nothing is too difficult, and despite every challenge and trial, you will both be victorious in Christ. As you are here searching for prayers for your marriage, know that the LORD hears your prayers and answers them because you are His child. So, what is a good marriage prayer as a Christian? You can pray for your marriage in the following way:

Heavenly Father, thank You for this beautiful life with which you have blessed my spouse and I. As we journey in this new life with Christ Jesus at the center, may we always glorify Your Name and be a good example to the next generation. Thank You for filling our mouths with praise and our hearts with thanksgiving in all circumstances of life, for this is Your will for us, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Heavenly Father, thank You for this beautiful life with which you have blessed my spouse and I.

You can also pray specifically for your husband or wife. The more you pray for each other, the more selfless and mindful you become of your other half. You can pray in this manner:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the life of my beautiful wife/husband. You have given me such an amazing man/woman of God, a true carrier of Your glory and Your presence. I appreciate them and I bless them in all aspects of life. May they never forget how valuable, precious, and unique a person they are and that I love them so much, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Heavenly Father, thank You for this beautiful life with which you have blessed my spouse and I.

A Christian Marriage Prayer

When couples bless each other and speak life through prayers, God blesses the marriage and makes it flourish and thrive. It is essential that as you both find ways to stay strongly connected, you also make every effort to strongly connect to God as a couple, through prayers and meditations on His Word, as well as applications of it in life’s many complex situations.

What is the marriage prayer?

Marriage is a journey to enjoy, overcome and learn from that impacts children, societies and the broader world. Prayers are so vital in a marriage because it is our connection to the Author of fellowships and marriages. As you seek guidance and wisdom on what to pray for in a marriage, here are 20 things you can pray for as a married couple:

  1. Pray for unity of mind and heart.

By praying for the unity of mind and heart, you will begin to see that you complement each other in both your similarities and differences.

  1. Pray for each other as a couple.

The more you focus on praying for God’s best for your spouse, and the less you think of yourself, the more healthy, vibrant and protected the marriage will become.

  1. Pray for protection against the works of Satan.

Marriage is a spiritual battle much of the time. Couples must pray for protection against the enemy’s works and give each other the sensitivity to see and feel each other’s needs, selfless and unconditional love like Christ, as well as wisdom and discernment in all things.

  1. Pray for fresh love and mercies every morning.

Just like the LORD’s mercies are new every morning, couples must also imitate our Heavenly Father, whose mercies and love are brand new each day.

  1. Pray for your children.

Children are truly blessed when they have parents who pray for them and ask God for their guidance and protection in Christ Jesus.

  1. Pray for God’s unlimited supplies and provisions.

Provision and unlimited supplies are already available, along with a promise of the Heavenly Father through Christ Jesus. Still, most couples pray for God’s provisions as a way of telling God that they trust Him.

  1. Pray for God’s will to be done

It is important to pray for God’s will to be done as a married couple, because His will is perfect. When you pray for God’s will to be done, it means that you prioritizes His plans, His ways, and His thoughts above your own.

  1. Pray for strength

Strength plays a vital role in people’s lives, even more so in a couple’s life. Sometimes, our strength may fail and we may grow weary, but God promised renewed hope and strength for those who trust in Him.

  1. Pray for the manifestations of the fruit of the Spirit.

Marriages that last are those that produce the fruit of the Spirit. These are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control (see Galatians 5:22-23).

  1. Pray for Christlikeness.

To be Christ-like is to be selfless and unconditional, submissive as a wife and loving as a husband, humble, persevering and enduring in your love and in the pursuit of your spouse.

  1. Pray for each other’s personal dreams and desires

Marriage isn’t the end of your personal dreams, but rather the beginning of another great adventure with God with your spouse beside you. Pray for each other’s personal dreams and desires too!

  1. Pray for God’s tangible presence and the manifestation of His Word

God’s tangible presence and the manifestation of His Word will increase your faith and your trust in Him. When you pray about these things as a couple, you will begin to see your marriage and your family as powerhouses for God.

  1. Pray for the revelation of God’s Word.

It is also important that couples pray for the revelation of God’s Word. When you read His Word and the Spirit reveals what’s written, it refreshes the soul and brings health to your bones.

  1. Pray for your children’s future and the next generation.

It is also important to pray for today and your children’s future, as well as your children’s children; that a godly generation is raised through their lives along with those they will choose to marry someday.

  1. Pray for conceiving a child

Some couples who do not yet have children may invest their time in praying to conceive a child. Children are God’s blessings, and couples must pray for a smooth conception, healthy babies, and for all of God’s provisions involved in pregnancy and raising a child.

  1. Pray for godly counsel and connections

When couples are surrounded with godly people and connections, their marriage thrives with heavenly wisdom, understanding and a strong bond that is not easily broken by the enemy.

  1. Pray for the right tribe that empowers marriage and family

Praying to find the right tribe with like-minded ideas and concepts on marriage and family can strengthen your marriage and your family ties. It is crucial that, as husband and wife, you pray for God to surround you with the right tribe, those godly individuals who empower marriage and family.

  1. Pray for God’s blessings and favor.

Couples pray for God’s blessings and favors, as these prayers are similar to His provisions and supplications. When you ask God for blessings and favor, in general, it simply shows that you know your rights as His son or His daughter – to receive the Father’s blessing and His favors in your life.

  1. Pray for good health.

Health plays a vital role in daily life. When you have poor health, you will be unable to do the things God wants you to do, or even what you may enjoy doing with your spouse, family, and loved ones. It is important to pray for your health individually, as well as the health of your spouse, children, and extended family.

  1. Pray for forgiveness.

When you pray for God’s forgiveness and your spouse’s forgiveness when a wrong is done, it keeps the marriage strong, through humility, before each other and before the LORD.

There are many more things you can pray for in your marriage. It is the Holy Spirit who leads every godly couple on what to pray for. Sometimes, when you don’t know what to pray for as a couple, you can fully entrust your heart and mind to the Holy Spirit, who helps people in their weaknesses, including not knowing what to pray for (see Romans 8:26).

May the LORD bless every couple and marriage and be strengthened in your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

How do you pray for the bride and groom?

When a friend is getting married, you can’t help but think of ways to bless the bride and the groom. After all, their decision to get married marks a one-time event in their life that changes their future direction. As you have been blessed and given the privilege to attend this special occasion, you may be wondering how you can pray for the bride and the groom. Well, here is a sample prayer that may serve as a guide for you:

Heavenly Father, thank You for this lovely couple that You have connected to my life. They are now journeying through life together as husband and wife. As they move through their marriage together, I pray that the LORD Jesus Christ always be at the center. May Your Word never depart from their heart and mind, and may they both be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit as they face new challenges in life and their future family. I bless them, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.

Another way that you can pray for the bride and the groom is by praying or declaring the Scriptures. Here is an example of praying the Scriptures based on Philippians 2:3 and Colossians 3:12-13:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the life of (say the couple’s names). As they are now married and entering a new chapter as husband and wife, thank You for ensuring that they continue to esteem each other better than themselves, being clothed in tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. No challenge will be too hard for them to face because Jesus is at the center of their union, guiding them both as one flesh. May their marriage glorify You, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
